HMM, another e30 in the stable?

I just looked at another e30 :D Has 210k miles, '88 i, seats are nice, tan carpet is stained, one crack in the dash. Was hit in the driver's fender and bent a tie rod or something, all that has been replaced, drives straight, still missing fender, headliner is OK, missing the interior lights, one crack int he dash, motor is sound - hasn't been started in about 6 months, fired right up with a fresh battery and chattered for a second, smoothed out. No major rust, one spot on the sunroof, and one spot on the door where the door lock shorted out and melted the paint (locks are fixed), A/C, auto, exhaust is in great shape. Has 2 front plastic bumbpers with lips, extra set of front seats that need covering, the grille, bumper etc is in the trunk/back seat.

Just curious about opinions, I can get the car for probably less than $300, and I know it was well maintained (timing belts, hoses, fan belt etc all have been done since I have known the guy).

    Should I buy it?

    So, what's your opinions?

I'll take a camera with me tomorrow to my shop (he's my neighbor here) and see if I can get you some pics...

      Thanks!

Yeah. I figure I already have the 86 es looking nice, just have to finish the body work on the lip and side skirts and the exterior will be 100% with it's fresh paint etc - then it's time for a drop, new treads and the 885 top end swap.

Figure why not get another one and do the same :D

      I'm actually excited..

Plans for the '88 if the deal goes through? w00t. Um, this one will be manual swapped, engine rebuilt and maybe some PSI? :) These cars look much easier to turbo than my Firebird hehe, simple y-pipe to a turbo flange, and some cold side piping...

Talk about coincidence, I just so happen to scoop up a pair of euro front plate frames last week haha. Guess I had a premonition?

Yeah, it needs some work, but it's all there except the fender - he had set the gold one on there and it fell off during a windstorm and delivery truck ran it over. After that he lost interest and it's just sitting. He has an extra set of seats that need recovering, there are 2 lips and 2 bumpers in the car, along worth the old fender, grills etc. Most of the tools are in the tool kit, and it has an aftermarket CD player, air works etc. Mechanically sound.

Hell, mine looked pretty rough after we had it a couple years, and it was brought back from the dead, this one can be saved :D

The way I see it, is I would get that back just parting it out, but I think I might just go mod crazy on it...

Well, he's not going for it. $500 with all the extra parts :(

I think I'm still going to get it though. Runs awesome, drives straight, ice cold A/C...

Well you know the parts are there for the money.. So the decision will come down to if you have time to part it out. (If you do, I will take the diff, and some small interior peices, locally)

Personally, I wouldnt buy it because I just dont have any spare time. If your just farting around with no job, fuck yea buy it. Theres at least a few hundred bucks of profit there either way.

I know there are enough $$ in parts to part it out and make some coin, but I think I want to get it, fix it, and drive it for a while. I have 3 jobs, four kids, and a couple projects I could dump in favor of this one ;)

The wife is finally working again, so she has been borrowing the nanny's car to go to work in so that the Excursion can be at home when they get out of school.

I also have some extra turbo stuffs laying around that i can probably get this thing boosted. I'm considering going with an FMU to skip the tuning (I don't like NOT being able to datatlog via ECM, my GM ECM logs through a data signal) and with some r!cer engenuity, it could be a fun $500 car. lol

It's sold, runs good, blows cold, even the timing belts have been changed on a regular basis. I'll have my bud paint it after I nab a fender, and have a feeling I will end up loving it as much as I do the eta.
