    TIVO with dvd recorder outputs.

Is it worth the money? Does anyone have it? I always miss at least 4 or 5 shows while on road. Opinions?

comcast has a new DVR, it's a digital cable box with built in "tivo" it's pretty cool, you can program it to record whatever you want, it's pretty trick

I work in Sales at Time Warner Cable.I have 2 DVRs in my home along with EVERYTHING TWC has to offer FREE as part of my benefits..However I go through a DVR every 6-7 months.DVRs give out on customers quite a bit as well no matter what the brand. This is the one exception that I truely believe its better to lease it from your provider instead of buying a retailer version and have to deal with warranty hassels and downt time.Besides the guides/features are much easier to use with the provider versions and its just 1 unit instead of two separate.

you could pick up a tv tuner card for your computer for about $100-130, and if your harddrive is too small then get a a dvd burner for about $100.

DVD recorder outputs...that's a good idea. No experience with that, but I have Tivo with my DirecTV and I love it. It really changes the way you watch tv. When I go to other people's houses, I really miss it. I even catch myself trying to rewind the radio in my car sometimes.

It's great if you hate commercials as much as I do. When a show comes on that I don't want to record, but still want to watch, I'll just pause it and go do something else. Then when I come back, I have enough time built up on it that I can fast forward through all of the commercials.

I also have DirecTV with TiVo and its addictive. My 4 year old daughter has even figured out how to pause her favorite shows so she can play on her iMac then come back and continue watching.
Having DVD output would be sweet. I am assuming you're talking about component out to a DVD recorder, or are you talking about a DVD recorder with TiVo built-in?

"DVD recorder outputs" would most likely be s-video... as MattM20 mentioned, most tv tuner cards can take that as an input. but i'm that way too, i'll never spend extra money on a dedicated box when a computer i've already sunk cash into can do the same thing.

in that case, you should only need a DVD burner, i would think...

They're talking about putting commercials on Tivo now. I guess stuff like ads would pop up when you're fast forwarding and such. That would be super gay.

reason why not to buy then. Another friend has XM and that has commercials on it now.
