when did you know you were into E30s?

    Well heres my story:

I really just remembered this the other day. We were on the daycare bus ( I was about 10), and we were talkin about what kind of cars we all wanted to own when we grew up. So I told my teacher and everyone on the bus that I wanted a white BMW convertable, one of the ones with the "two headlights on each side". lol. little did i know that a few years later I would buy one, at age 15 (a 1986 325e) and my 2nd E30 ( a red 325i) when I was 18. I am now 19 looking back on it all. I just thought it was funny. Oh, and I believe the dream car had a MTech kit if i remember right. I also remember the daycare teacher telling me that my dream car was the same exact one that MC Hammer drove.

One of my old HS teachers new i was looking for a car, and said he had an old 'Beeeeemer" for sale, so checked it out. I was Naieve about E30's at the time, and if i knew what i know now, would not have purchased it. But i guess it's good i did. The body is rusted and beat to all hell, but hard as i try i cannot kill that eta. To this day it takes redlines just fine, at 200k+ (90% origional parts)

BMW's weren't my dream car. I've always wanted a Porsche, and will more than likely get one some day.

When I was 14 years old (4 years ago), one of my dads friends said he would sell me his daily driver when I was old enough and saved the money up myself. By 15, I had the money saved up. He wasn't ready to sell the car and didn't think I would want to buy it if I did save the money up. I saved up $2800 to buy a 1989 325is with 130,000 miles. Very nice car. That was my first e30, first BMW.

I've now owned 3 e30 BMW's. I have 2 in my driveway now. Very happy and very satisfied with what I have.

I'll be an e30 guy forever.
          Current BMW's:
          2004 330Ci
          1986 European 325i cabrio
          1986 735i

          Previous BMW's:
          1989 325is RIP
          1989 325iX RIP
          2001 740iL RIP

My parents started liking BMWs after they bought a 740. I was looking at cars at that time. I came across the Unix Nerd's BMW site, and once I saw a picture of the Sliver M-tech 2 E30 and reading about how amazing it was, I wanted one. I now know that I'll always be a E30 guy after caring for and maintaining one. Interestingly enough, the M-tech 2 was what caught my eye, but I don't like it anymore.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

                My first e30 memory:
In our new Mazda MPV driving to my dads jewelry store. Parked right across the street of the store (west 4th and Burrard, Vancouver) was a dark green e30 touring, this was in 1993. My mom said “we should have got one of those instead”. She hated the MPV :-)

Also, my dad drove 7’s while I grew up so I guess it’s what I know.

the day i went to e30.de.................

always loved bimmers, '02 fan since day one (my dad had a malaga '72 2002), just didnt realize the potential of an e30 till i surfed the web.

didnt become an obsession till i started modding mine.

Since high school but was a quattro fanantic then hence the ix, wasn't into RWD then, I always thought they were overpriced in HS but know I know you pay for quality. And as I understood cars more I understood that BMW were much simplier then an Audi.

When I first started to drive in 1986, one of my friends had a sweet 2002. I envied him so until he got t-boned by a drunk and his car was totalled. He got a nice Celica (back when they were rear drive) and I shortly after him got a Supra. At that time the e30s were new and a pipe dream to kids like us.

Years later, in 2000 when I bought my cabby it all came back. After having a few front drive cars in between, I loved having real RWD driving car. The boxy style of the e30 is still my favorite over the e36 and e46 models.

In '87 when I saw an M3 for the first time........but I was a lowly high school junior. Anyhow, the following year I got a 6yr old E12 528i and had alot of fun ;)

My friend introduced me to the 3 series. I was going to buy either an e30 or e36, and it just so happened that the e36 I was going to buy sold before I could go see it, and all the other ones for sale were 4 doors.

I then saw a nice LM 325i, went and saw it, and bought it. Even though I was going to buy an e36, I would never have it that way now.
