There should be an "e30 of the month" Section

considering how widely varying the e30 crowds opinions are how could there really be a decided winner ? most of us like very different cars. alot like pure stock, alot like the euro look, alot like the fuh raze look.

the judges im sure will have their own choosing and will opf course stick to that .. say they all like stock e30's .. then its going to be a ton of just stock late model IS's everytime. if they like the euro look then its going to be all cars with stretched tires forever.

no matter what a huge population of e30 owners will hate the chosen car.

True. We could ignore this fact, or as a possibility we could have classes for each car of the month (Or season, or tri-monthly, whatever).

Classes being something like:
Factory Fresh
Pre-Facelift
Facelift
M-Technic
4-Door
Convertables
Track
Ghetto
Trashed
Aftermarket
Touring
Hartge/Alpina
Original Owner

Or even replace 4 of the above with:
318i
325 (325, 325e)
325s (325es, 325is)
325i
These seem slightly boring though. With all the original 12 I listed you will be sure to get the most diversity.

There are 12 right there. While I'm all for the calendar idea, I really think an e30 of the month (tri-monthly, season, whatever) should have a temporary page like the First Fives site I posted in the OP. It would explain certain upgrades with 20 or so pics. This would really allow us to see all the unique e30's out there in great detail.

Just have a nomination period and then make a thread to vote between the cars with the most nominations. Gives everyone on r3v a chance to express their opinion on what cars get cotm instead of just a few people. I like the calendar idea, I would definitely buy one.

I definitely agree. No offense meant towards the owner/mods of this site, but the users of R3V should be the ones to determine who gets COTM.

There should be a 3 day nomination period where cars are nominated with a single picture posted in the thread. After the 3 day period the mods/owner will choose 5 cars from the however many nominated, and then set a poll. Of the 5 in the poll, there will be a 5 day voting period and then the poll will close. Once the winner is determined he will recieve a PM asking for descriptions of the car, GOOD pictures (try to make an effort at good photography) at least 20 pics. Each pic will have an explanation.

This is the best scenario I can think of. Anybody else have an idea? Any other mods (or Criv) besides Jason C want to chip in with a though?

This has been discussed already. Unfortunately, James is working crazy hours right now. The only time he says he can put into r3v is a quick browse here and there, and keeping the servers maintained.

regardless, the Car of the Month will happen! The date is still a mystery unfortunately.

I don't give a shit if my car is nominated. I want this to happen so everybody (including myself) can see all the nicest e30's. We would see variety and different cars that we don't usually see posting pics on here.
