    It worked out great.

I don't see where this stigma that the turbo was a horrible thing came from, I mean, my kit is still running in another car in Texas (and pushing more boost as well). So the turbo worked out great, put down good numbers and could have put down even more with a better intercooler and some more tuning. Its not like my car blew up or anything near that.

So suck my god damned cock you sarcastic asshole.

i've heard some horror stories about that s/c kit... bad welds etc. I think there is a thread on e30tech

There are pros and cons of both...For me it was what was easier to do so supercharger it was.

I am not looking for nut numbing numbers but just needed a good daily driver with the power when i needed it and this kit has proven its worht. Plus it is running on stock ECU (for now, won't know the complete story till i dyno it and check out the afrs) injectors, fuel pump and with no cuts or mods to any chassis or body part and very little fabrication (which is not really my skill).

GRM claims almost 50% gain in HP with this kit and if I am anywhere near that I will be more than happy... The car pulls good at any rpm in any gear...

All right folks here is the skinny....

As most of you know I got my E30 M42 vert blown. I got the finaly results today. Before I go deep into it let me create a baseline....

              Blower Kit:
Downing Atlanta Super Charger Kit for E36 M42
(came with intake manifold, idlers and a whole bunch of Hardware)

              Car:
              1991 318I convertible

              Milage:
              130,000 Km

              Dyno Equipment:
Mustang Dynamometer @ Racing Greed (RG) (Local Shop)

The car is bone stock with no after market components on it. The only change that I have done is added a 2.25" Walker Dynomax (Lordco special) exhaust muffler on it as the original was rusting a little.

The dyno at RG is know to read about 10% - 15% on the low side (just in case you are wondering about the numbers that I am about to mention. HoweverI would like to bring your attention to the gains in RWHP and Torque rather than focus on the actual numbers

              Prior to blowing:
              RWHP: 96
              Torque: 71 Ft Lbs
              Gas used: 92 Oct

              After blowing:
RWHP: 135 (and climbing) ran out of rpms (rev limiter kicked in)
              Torque: 116 Ft Lbs
              Max boost: 6.8 PSI
Gas used: half a tank of 92 Oct and half a tank of 94 Oct

              Total gain:
RWHP: 39 (which is a 40% increase in HP)
Torque: 40 Ft-Lbs (56% increase in Torque) THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME

Not bad numbers considering I am running on stock ECU and Injectors.

Copy of the dyno charts is attached. Page 1 is a combination of the Pre and Post blowing of the motor and page 2 shows the dyno chart after blowing but also includes AFRs and boost to the chart.

As you would notice the rpm cut off kicked in before I could reach max boost. Also I was worried that I would lean out but it is not bad at all. It seems that I ran quite lean between 2800 - 3200 rpm but beside that I was actually fine.

If someone has a JC chip or a Mark D chip that has the rev limit increased to 7200+ then I would like to borrow it. I really want to see the numbers at Max boost ( I am guessing another 10 points gain in both HP and torque)....

So if some one can lend me their chip for a day I would like to get it dynoed again to see the full set of numbers.

All in all everything turned out to be great. I was giggling like a little girl on my way back home today....

              Future mods:
              Powder coated valve cover
3rd brake light delete with Hartge Spoiler
              3.91 small case LSD
Aftermarket chip (depends on if I can get to borrow one for verification)
