Glad I stumbled upon this thread. I paid joe funk for a 4.10 lsd back in september that I never received. I tried by all means to get ahold of him without any luck, no tracking no response to emails etc. I contacted BBB and ic3, needless to say both had several complains about autobahn sport. A couple months ago I got ahold of a number for him thanks to a friend who got it from s14.net when joe funk was selling one of his M3's. I called, he didn't answer left a message about wanting to buy his M3 and he called back. As soon as I confronted him about my diff and all the people he stole money from he gave me some evasives and bad mouth attitude and then hung up. There's a saying "everyone is good until they go bad" and this POS is no exception. There is a guy on bimmerforums.com that was contacting everyone joe funk scammed. He had like 15 people so far with proven facts,paypal receipts etc. He was thinking about paying him a visit if everyone chipped in for the travel expense. He is some sort of marshall or deputy so it may happen if people come through. Thankfully I only lost $425 but I heard people being out a couple grand for complete engines. Hope he gets caught one way or another.

I really hate to see how this is unfolding. I've known Joe and we've been good friends for a long time, and always stood up for him, but this is getting worse all the time.

I wouldn't say I know him well, but I had a fairly bad experience with him that he did try to make right and I eventually dropped for other circumstances - so nothing against him personally - but I can understand how he is really flaky, it just always seemed like deep down he was trying to help people out and do the right thing.

Completely agree. He doesn't conduct himself in a business manor at all and really can be a pain to deal with at times.

I'm still very surprised that he has left so many people high and dry. Very unfortunate.

I couldn't find that post on BF. I lost about $200 on ticky tack stuff. I feel bad for the people who lost more than that. I'm more upset at the situation. Expecting to get parts for cheap by a person I thought was a trusted BMW community member. I ordered my parts back in June 2009 and kept in contact with him for about 3-4 weeks. I'm a patient person and understood he did have a lot on his plate with larger orders and the closing of his shop. But after the e-mails and v-mails stopped being returned I started to get worried. I tried contacting the BBB about Autobahn Sport but, I got a message back stating there wasn't any AS. Anyways, ever since I've been e-mailing and leaving voicemails. I forgot where I read that he posted he was going to make everything right if you contacted him (back in Nov. 2009).

I know for a fact he does check his voicemails because his voicemails go from being full to empty (where you can leave one).

I understand people defending him in the past because they knew him but, you can't say he's good at keeping his business promises now. It's going to be a year for me, in 3 months, and I still don't have my parts. If he's really away, it's not that hard to set up an away message on gmail.

The sad thing to me is how Joe has so badly slipped.

I have known Joe far longer than anyone on here. I met Joe when he was only 16, about 10 or so years ago. Joe and I reconnected on R3V in fact, and have gotten to know each other better over the years.

Generally when someone drop their life in a bucket like this, drugs and alcohol are involved (ask me how I know, y'know?) and I do know something about this.

Joe, my friend, if you are reading this PLEASE call me. There is a way out and you know that is true. You know you can clean up this horrible mess you have made.

He has been around the last few months up to about a month ago in pdx. So a backpacking story is BS. A close friend of mine actually saw and spoke to him a few times and as late as a month ago.

I am local and got screwed. I viewed him as a friend and even took gas to him at midnight a couple days before Christmas, just to have him screw me on a cash deal less than a month later. I thought we were good chums, so I didnt push for a receipt etc, my bad.

Just seems like he gets caught up, and instead of manning up, he makes excuses and feeds you along a path until you feel safe, then promises to come back and finish the task, but never does. Then it just repeats itself. I think he CAN be a good guy, but he just doesnt know how to.

Joe, if you are out there and need some help, speak up.

I bought a part from Joe back in late Jan for about $550. Took him about a month to ship it. I didn't bug him too much though. Came well packaged, clean, as described. We communicated through emails.
