    first time e30 owner?

    Going to check out a 325i this sunday, 1990 2dr 5spd.
Well, its going to be a project car, meaning not a DD. Considering i've never owned one before, what are some things to make sure i take a close look at to make sure this is the right car? I mean obviously because its a project there will be lots of work going into it, but there is an extent for that.
Its got like 244k miles, and KBB puts it around 847 but the chick is asking 1400$ and considering the condition i dont think it will be to hard to talk her down to 800$ range. her list of "issues" is this :
MINOR MECHANICAL GLITCHES, BUT NOTHING THAT'S EVER KEPT ME OFF THE ROAD... (JUST STUFF LIKE THE FAN THAT BLOWS THE AC/HEATER DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE, NO RADIO... A COUPLE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON, BUT THAT'S BECAUSE THE SENSORS ARE BAD, NOT BECAUSE THE BRAKES ARE OUT OR ANYTHING:)

any input is appreciated, and i look forward to joining the ranks as an e30 owner!

You can always tell a great seller on craigslist when they use all caps in their ad.

That being said, 244k is really high, and unless it's really well taken care of or you plan on doing some immediate engine maintenance/a swap it might not be worth it.

I think u should save that 1400 n look around. I mean theres a nice 325 4 door in the classifieds for like 1200 or 1900 i dont remember.

what type of maintenance are you implying would have to be done? water pump belts plugs type of stuff or rebuilding the motor completely? like i said, its not a DD, and rebuilding the motor, while extreme side of project, wouldn't be out of the question. me and my buddy just want to put our learned knowledge to the work on our first project.
KBB is 875ish on the car, wouldnt pay more than 900$ for it.

+1 look around some more for a better deal that car sounds like it's on it's way out and is only good for a engine swap assuming the chassis has no hidden rust

First, KBB doesn't apply to e30s.
Second, looks like they may have put a tucked diving board on the front
Third, 244k is really high, My car has 300k on it but I've also owned it since it came off the lot in 87 and taken great care of the engine. So expect to have a good amount of maintainence needed.

                    cost

I would dicker on the price with that many miles.
I grabbed a fully loaded 2dr 90 e30 325ix with a blown trani for $250 and some very minor additional fixit items (145,000 mi).

weird... late model with what looks like a diving board front bumper bolted on.

I think I would pass on this one and keep looking. Too many red flags.

i say you buy it and take your chances if you are confident in your ability to turn the car around. if it was me, i'd keep looking.
