To those who say that the 90degrees x 2 isn't much: wait till you freaking do it. Its a lot of torque to get them that second 90 degrees. And I would put new bolts in if they've already been torqued to 45lbs. There is also a small posibility that you may be putting a new headgasket in the car if you didn't do it correctly the first time. Just re-torquing the bolts may not be enough.

That its on right. The torque is right as far as autozone tells me. But I think they are off.

With all the resources available on the intrawebz why in gods name did you decide to go by what autozone told you, those clowns have a hard enough time changing wiper blades and batteries. Live and learn!!!

It was a print out from there computer that came with the torque pattern. Its not like the guy pulled a number outta his head or anything.

Oh and in thinking about it now it doesn't seem far off from the 22lbs 90turn 90turn. It sounds low but from 30lbs to 40lbs wasn't much of a turn. So your number may be even higher on the ft-lbs scale. Not sure and I haven't tested it but kinda seems like it.

Your lack of a Bently manual just cost you a lot more than the cost of the manual

buy a manual or get one online and print it or put it on a cd and keep it in your car you muppet. You don't need much money to keep the car in shape.

I did a preliminary search for you... http://www.pdfoo.com/bmw/136-1439-pdf.html

couldn't get that download to work but thanks anyway. ya im not trying to skimp on the car, but when your in high school have no job and your parents together make less then most people on this site, "you don't need much money" = you need every penny you can save up for the whole summer to buy the less than $80 in parts for fixing the head gasket.

get a job bitch. howd you get the 80 dollars, begging your parents? leave them alone. internet subscription is one bill you can drop to save cash. sometimes i wish e30s werent so cheap or that teenagers just thought they were ugly or something.

but i hope the gasket holds for you, honestly. you should learn from this experience though. get the proper instructions and follow them to the dot.
