    heh, good point.

the factory jack is fucking scary. I've had it fall over twice, lucky I'm not dumb enough to crawl under the car with it. the only reason I keep it is for emergencies..

      Loud, wasn't it?

I had a 1972 Caddy Eldo Convertible many years ago.
FWD and a CV joint blew up and I lost a front wheel.

Wheel went flying, car skidded about 75' on the asphalt.

im pretty scared to even use my factory jack to lift my car high enough for the lowest setting on the jack stand. forget trusting it alone!!

get yourself a stand my friend!!!!

As I said earlier I have jack stands but they are at a friend of mines house which doesn't do me any good. I also have a jack, the whole nine. The factory jack was just temporary til I got to autozone to get replacement bolts. The car was oon the stand for like 30 minutes.

its not like your crawling under the car with the factory jack, just jacking it high enough to line it up for new bolts.

I was changing a tire on a 7 series with that style jack and it failed. Pinned my hand under the tire, I was incredibly lucky the wheel stayed in place and it wasnt the rotor that slammed into my hand.
If you use that style jack, you are tempting fate.

Haha yeah it was. I was like 'I can't believe that just fucking happened!'

Then this farmer that lived right around there came out and told me he'd never seen anything like it.

Something like this happened to me before. After getting my tires balanced, I felt a wiggling going on. I looked out my window at 20mph and my rear wheel was about to take off. I tightened my rear wheel lugs and checked all the lugs of all the tires and they were loose! Now when I drive my car, I check my lugs religiously. I think after time, they just start getting looser. Because even though theyre torqued, I go to check them and they still get a little loose. I think I need to get new ones or something.

At a Regional AutoX, at the main site for Dixie Region, a RX-7 lost all four wheels at once. The problem was that he was given the wrong lugs. However, the one noise you will always hear before tech is the clack-click of torque wrenches echoing across the grid. We have a thing about our lugs...

damn the factory jack looks sketchy there as always. you already got lucky once. get a jackstand or atleast something solid, like these guys are saying.

weird though, similar thing happened to me too last week. noticed a sound coming from what sounded like the right rear. got home and found all four lug bolts to be far from torqued. not finger loose, but not much tighter. always check em if a shop or someone has put your wheels back on.

Guys, they're only the bolts that hold the wheels on the car...

Who needs to torque them, check them, or make sure they're in good shape and of proper strength grade?

                            Geeeeez...

We had our driver side rear come off at speed in the middle of the lemons race. 25 minutes later we were back on track racing again.
