What I've been working on for the past couple weeks

    Engine swap, '93 JDM turbo MR2 swap into a '91 USDM N/A MR2.

    31k mile fresh JDM 3S-GTE (2.0L turbo)

Nasty ass 2.2L N/A powerplant with 191k miles and NO compression. (5S-FE engine code)

Engine bolted in, this was taken right after we fired it up for the first time.

To keep some BMW material in the thread, here's the M3's block (just back from the machine shop) in front of the STi "project car" (we're installing a bunch of shit on it at the moment, sways, strut tower braces, intake, exhaust, some electronic stuff).

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

          Oversteer + boost = fun.

We had a friend over helping us who has one swapped w/the same specs as this one, only change was a manual boost controller and a few fuel system upgrades.

At 15psi it was all but undriveable, wheelspin was unavoidable. But U-turns were fun as SHIT.

M3 block is for that bright ass Fly Yellow E30 M3 we all saw on eBay a while back. We're in the SLOW process of putting it back together, and have been sidetracked for a while with this engine swap.

The block is still in stock form, although a 2.5 build is being contemplated. It will be a track/autocross car only. Basically, the car overheated about a month after he bought it, head warped, so mod fever bit.

The garage belongs to my friend Zach, we pretty much use it as a shop for everything though, anything breaks on our cars we take it there to fix it.

And as far as the 1G is concerned, all's clear on that front... runs great, drives great, all the little nags about it have been fixed. I was out most of this evening enjoying it on the wet roads. :)

                        AWD? MR2s are RWD...

                        unless I missed something....

MR2s have insane snap oversteer, it is known in the tuner community that people who can drift MR2s as well as any stereotypical "drifter" car (240sx, 86s, etc) are well respected for their efforts.

that's how I understood it, at least, when I went to the driver search and Keiichi Tsuchiya walked down from the judges stand to personally congratulate and shake hands with this one guy that brought an MR2 and completed a 10/10 outstanding lap...

He was talking about my car.

Well, an update... the MR2 is done, we drove it around yesterday, but heard a nasty clicking sound from the drivers' side rear.

One of the CV joints wasn't reassembled right, we took it apart, inspected it for problems, saw none, reassembled it the right way, and put it back in. Voila.

I got to drive it for a little bit... with 17s on it will easily light them at any point in first gear and snatching second gear will spin it all the way until you shift into third. According to a boost gauge we hooked up to it it's putting about 10.5psi out on a fully stock setup. Not too shabby, considering Toyota's specs are anywhere from 7.5-11.5psi on the stock 3S-GTE.
