    water pump help

Guys I'm in the middle of 24v swap and need some clearance for the electric fan, so I need to cut the front of the pump off. Just threaded part, but will it fall apart, it looks like it will.

maybe someone with an old pump can cut the tip off and see what happens..???

It shouldn't if you go easy on or with a band saw. Just by looking at my spare pump

It looks like it's pressed on the shaft so that's what's getting me worried. If I cut it off, will the flange were the pulley bolts on will fly off if it's compromised in any way. It's a brand new pump, damn and I threw the old one away, figures I never throw shit away but now I need it to hack it up.

put a pusher fan on the front of the rad unless you still have the AC in.

That could happen. I think youd have to be verry careful and cut it at the band saws slowest speed. I dont have access to good one at the moment. I wouldnt cut it with anything else though.

I might pull the pump off, cut it, and then weld it in a few spots.

The bearing race in the housing is farther back, you can cut off the threads. It won't come apart.

(judging from the innards of broken pumps I've seen in the P'n'P.)
