    '01 dodge neon engine missing?

It's my moms car. She likes it cause it's a car that gets the job done. Anyways, it feels like it's having some misfire issues. First cyl spark plug is clean. The next is dirty. The third is clean, and the fourth is dirty. When you drive it, it feels like it's missing as well.

A bad connection some where? FPR? Coil? Plugs are a few months old.

Definitely have the computer scanned, even if the light isn't on now it could have stored codes.

Right on, thanks. I'll have it checked out. Getting thr computer scanned didn't even come to mind. I guess that's what happens when you're super sick.

Sounds like coil or CPS intermittent failure. My 05's (two of them) I've replaced the plugs every 15k, the wires every 30k, and have about 70-90k on them. If the wires get aged and build up resistance, the coil will become a weak point.

I can't remember if bad coils are common on those but I do know crank and cam sensors are.

I know how common coils are. I have replaced a Cam sensor on one of the two, but have not replaced a coil yet. But in an 8 year old car I'd assume it's time.

Thanks everyone. Especially Farbin and MR 325. And to Lennon, yeah I didn't know how to word it properly.

Take it to autozone, have them scan the code for free, then type the p-code into google with the model of car, and on some forum, somewhere, they will be shittalking like we do here about it being whatever it is.

Badabing. You just avoided a diagnostic charge.

My thoughts exactly. The parents went out and about, so when they return I'll have my dad take it to autozone and have the codes pulled.

Check out neons.org seriously it's an informative site.

I had a first gen, a 1998 and I replaced the coilpack twice in 200k but never had any problems with the sensors, though the tps is also notorious for failing my money is on the coilpack and or wires.

They have good scanners? I used a generic obd2 scanner on my gf's dd and it does give a code but it's too general to really pin-point it to any given component "cyl 4 misfire".

Dealers must have better scanners no?
