    Driving to the States

So, today in my infinite boredom at work, I found an excellent plan for a vacation: I'm gonna drive up to the states. However, on further contemplation, several worries crossed my mind. Hopefully someone here will be able to help me out (most likely the canadians on the board).

When I drive my car to the states, do i need any type of special permit or will my normal visitor visa work fine? Do I have to get the car certified or anything, or can I just drive it without having to worry about getting pulled over or something?

Oh, and, there any big meets in the Texas area? Or am I gonna have to drive farther to find a large meet? :P

thanks for any information provided :)

checking with your consolate would be a good idea but I dont see why you would have any trouble.

I see canadian plates even down here in KS. Just make sure to get all of that coke cleared out of your car before you come up here, they frown upon that.

Of course. I would not plan on that otherwise.

                  I hit Austin's 6th street for my 21st. It was a blast. I think it requires a sequel :)

Leave your pot in your casa.

There's plenty to buy once you cross the border.

Nah I rarely smoke pot anyways. It's good for a "i really need to relax" moment.

Plus, my objective will be to stay as far away from the law in the states as possible. Last thing I need is a black mark on my name. That could negatively affect my ability to get a student visa to go study in the states later on down the road.

If anything I'll just drive out elsewhere in the country and hunt a damned meet down :P

I cross the border monthly from Mexico and I get stopped more often and for longer periods than the Mexicans around me. There are no permits or inspections for cars. Last week I was behind an 80's Tercel that was smoking oil at idle and they let it in.
