    Need help determining new suspension.

I'm going to get another E30 as a DD, just do a few mods, mostly maintenance and just have something nice and fun to drive when I'm not in the S52 car.

I still want the car low, I hate fender gap, and I'll probably run something flush-ish with just a hint of stretch. But I'm not going to go into the expense of putting coilovers on the car.

H&R Sports or FK60/40s + drop hats? From what I understand Pelican Parts is now selling drop hats.

    What say you peanut gallery?

Which ever ones you decide to go with you should try to find used, save a couple bucks. I'm planning on selling my vogtland on here cheap in the spring when i go to coils.

^Do you end up with any meaning full shock travel with that much drop on a Bilstein sport?

It was fine, it only hit the bumpstops over really big bumps. They're perfect DD springs imo.

coil overs for 200 more then springs and set your own wheel gap, no ordering springs to find out, its too soft or not low enough. Just do it.

                  I'm piecing together a GC DIY-coilover kit.

Eibachs are pretty supple while still being on the low side if that's what you're looking for, but I'd probably go H&R sport or Vogtland (really similar to sports but just a bit stiffer), the H&Rs/billy sports are a pretty proven DD setup. You might as well order them new though; as far as I've seen they rarely come up used for anything but like $30 off MSRP.

If I was going to do coilovers, I'd do them like on my car now. Shortened housings with short body Koni's, etc. Buy I don't want to drop $1500 on the suspension for this car.

Got any pics of your car on this setup? What shock/struts were you running?

                      Billie sports?

dont do the h&r sports, they just are not low enough. get some kw/fk 60-40s or 75-50s.

                          cutting wheel and stock shocks!!!FTW
FK is just junk. Get some of the fat bilsteins, ( the stocker M tech stuff) open up the bottom of em, cut the foam piece in half- stick it back in, and get some low-tec/60mm-- in a few weeks it should be laid out!

^I've got other people telling me Lowtec/KW are junk and to go with FK. More confusion.

I've looked through both ride height threads here and on emotech, and HR sports just aren't going to be low enough for me.

But the 75/50, I just don't see how there is going to be much travel in the strut left with a 3" drop up front. Is the Billy sport any shorter than stock? By how much?
