    Most Popular Swaps?

    Guys can someone help me out and tell me whats the diffrence between m20, 30, 40, etc engines and what do most people do as a swap?

    Whats the easiest and leasrt costly? Best bang for the Buck.

    And do most of you Turbo or just keep it NA?

    Im just trying to learn more about the options. Thank you once again.

    P.S. Whats the weight diffrence of the sedan vs Coupe? on the e30's?

          it depends on the year they are not all the same

          a 90-91 318i 4door is 2657

          a 87-88 325i coupe is 2850

          89 325i is 2895

          90-91 325i is 2811

                  I am not going to just say search. But it really is helpful then getting a bunch of answers from a bunch of people most of whom will be wrong. Check out the different sections and read the threads that has a bunch of replies. You will be researching for a while because there is a lot of information on here.

                    Most popular swap is the S50/S52 swap from an E36 M3.

                    The majority of the board has NA setups. Turbo is well covered though and has been done many times. Best bang for your buck is the S52...you drop in a stock motor which provides very few headaches and good power for relatively cheap.

                    There are a couple versions of the M20...the low revving 2.7L(325/325e) and the high revving 2.5L(325i/325is). M30 is the motor from an E28 5 series/E24 6 series and others.

                            This site covers all your questions without fail. there have been tons of threads and complete sections dealing with this. The search button is your best friend.
