All this FTW. Plus, mine is a wagon. Heated leather seats are amazing.

I had a wrangler, was killer in the snow, WRX and the STi were unstoppable... Kinda nervous to see how the e30 takes to the white stuff.

PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

It's all in how you drive, and what tires you have. A good set of studless (or studded, if you really feel the need to destroy the roads) snow tires, a few sandbags in the trunk, and careful driving will be fine. I used to drive my E30 in the winter for a few years before it wasn't my DD anymore, and I always did fine.

Thx. I'm gonna probably throw some weight in the trunk since the bottlecaps don't rub like the reps do, and see what happens. I already swore to myself the e30 will be for local town hopping, so nothing high speed or long distance... I have a ride with friends to the mountains to go boarding, and if I need to go to Denver or something, I have an '01 Sierra I can borrow.

My daily driver is an '88 R107 560SL roadster. In the winter, I keep the hard-top in place and run Michelin X-Ice Xi2 snow tires:

The Benz replaced the 400hp Evo VIII in my sig. Very different driving experience!

My 323i was the PO's ski vehicle, driven everywhere roads were open in most states that have skiing. The only times he had trouble was glare ice on a steep hill. That was with studless snows and all seasons. You can put studded tires on anything and go anywhere on snow/ice though, studs just suck balls on pavement.

1991 318is, 4th year of winter only driving. Bought a parts car this summer and switched over the new eibach's and bilstiens. Has a nice drive and stance now. Put new firestone snows ($34 each at tire rack this summer) Chord out the back is the battery charger (car was 'stored' all summer) Waiting for the snow ...

I got lucky with mine: just one owner; full service history from a M-B dealer since new; no rust or accident damage; and just 69K miles on the clock. Most R107's I've seen were in pretty rough shape.

There's a local shop/showroom that specializes in R107's and other vintage 'Benzes. They're called "Wolfgang's" in Tenafly, NJ. If you want a pristine 560SL, then this would be the place to start your search.
