The OP never specified but it sounds like he is looking for a first gen Chrysler engined mini.

I would like to see a second gen mini for $11k

I think second generation car was 10 times better, they took all the feedback from the customers and redesigned the car in a better way

It's a first gen, not second. I think I might just get a normal MCS with lower miles in the color I actually like though and just add a pulley instead.

I think that there is a following for either 50/50. I prefer the turbo engine of the second generation, however everything else including the interior I like better on the first generation.

Good to know! I was looking at getting a GTI also but I think I might find that a little porky compared to the e30/ cooper s and not refreshing enough coming from a background of all modern, heavyish bmw 5 series and 3 series. Too similar I guess is my concern.

I agree, I wouldn't have an mk4 if it wasn't for my interest in diesels and running bio.

Stand corrected there, but still see no factual argument against the Chrysler engine. Once again, could be wrong; however, seems like a very solid engine...

For 13k you can get a nice Mini or a very custom e30.

                    I'd opt for a highly e30 IMO.....
