Building a motor, what should I put it in?

I'm building a 3.2 liter m50 non vanos with cams (258intake/244exhaust). I'm very tempted to pickup this e30 m3 in LA for 9k and sell the motor since it probably needs a rebuild. I'd sell my e30 325i delphin sedan which is extremely clean for 3k. What do you think? Should I just put it in the sedan? or should i buy a beat e30 m3? My initial thought is a e30 m3 for 9k is going to have a lot of issues.

What's your opinion? Any other ideas?

I think you should show me pics and info of your e30.
    I'm in the market.

i think you should stop dreaming..... use what u got!!.... 9k for an m3! It better run and be damn near perfect at that price. Ever consider and m30 swap....?

I dont mean to be soooo blunt.... but use what u got! I did an m30b35 swap in my ol m10 84' 318i for less than $2k. 9 k for an m3 with a bad motor.... doesent sound to good.

          p.s been drinkin :)

I say you should get the m3, see if you can get it for say 8-8500 cash and out the motor in that. You'll get about 1k or so depending on the motor's condition. That put you at about half the cost out of pocket and you know have a 3.2L e30 m3. In the long run I guarantee you will be happier with the m3!

HAHA! You have clearly been drinking! 9k for an m3 in decent condition is a good price, Average is still 15k for a good one and 20-25K for a perfect one.

Mixing drinking with idiocy can be a deadly combination. Be careful...

The only one in LA listed for that price. Why? have you checked it out already?

yeah, 9k for an M3 is very low and you'd really have to assume that it has a beat s14 or significant problems but who knows, maybe it's alright.

If the S14 is on ok condition... as in "it runs without problems, but its getting tired," I'd say buy the M3. Put the S14 in your 325i, and sell the car to an S14 fanatic (there are plenty) for like 5000-6500. In fact i'm betting you can get some die hard track guys to pick it up for 6500. Where else can you buy an S14 powered non M e30? And use your m50 for the e30 m3 shell. At least that would be my plan if i were in your shoes.

very sound advice. I'm curious though how much a tired s14 with a 265 fetches now adays if i can just sell the motor and the car, there's a good 6000 if i can get 3k for the motor-tranny. any clue in?

IMHO... the man that strips a perfectly good numbered e30 M3 of its S14 to put in a goddamn 2.5L M50 is a fawking mongoloid...

why don't you build an M20 and put that in there. at least it's period correct :p
