The NY 2 Miami n Back Roadtrip Thread

Tomorrow me and my trusty E30 Vert are going to head south to the Sunshine State, where I used to live to visit some friends and family.

Is there anything I should bring tools wise? Im going to check the spare and jack and tire pressures, etc.

I am going to do a oil change right before I head out tomorrow morning sometime. Hoping to be in the Florida Sun by Tuesday afternoon.

I will bring my laptop, and camera and I will update when I can.

OK almost ready to hit the road heres what i packed in my car just in case.

Fix a flat, and a small compressor.
Multi-screwdrivers, adjustable wrench, and locking pliers and regular pliers
            Some extra hose clamps
my Tactical Surefire Flashlight, and a LED Lantern
2 Power Inverters to run my laptop and chargers
a cooler with 4 Pack of Redbulls, a 6 pk of Gatorade
Big ass bag of Beef Jerky
Gonna pick up a hero for lunch (or hit Maryland House on I-95)

Thinking if I leave at 10am, I should hit South of the Border around 8pm
(I stay there traditionally on my Miami runs even though its a shithole its decently clean has carports, indoor swimmin hole, and really good southern style breakfasts with sausages n grits!!

TODAY DID NOT GO AS PLANNED.....

I pull the car out of the garage, and park it in on the street in front of my apt to load up, come back down and theres a ticket on the car!! Ok Im thinking to myself WTF could they ticket it for...EXPIRED NYS INSPECTION. IT EXPIRED YESTERDAY!!!! F)@#*!!! So I take it to the shop on my corner and the guy looks at it and tells me its not going to pass as it needs new brakes and rotors, and pointed out the tie rod is bad and while the car is on the lift shows me the play in the tierod. He was like after all the suspension, sway mods u have done to your car you forgot to replace the tierods, haha! What pissed me off was I had a alignment done 3 weeks ago, and they never mentioned it! So off to the parts store I go for pads and rotors, luckily I have a spare steering rack I bought off someone and it has decent tierods on it.
So tomorrow at 8am I have to do my brakes, and tie rod, and go back for the inspection so I don't get nailed at every NY toll. It should pass emissions too. Everything happens for a reason, and I would rather be safe than sorry. I will make it to Miami by midweek it seems. I was hoping to be top down in South Carolina by now.

Oh yea and last night I pulled the spare and jack and stuff for inspection and it was dark and the lights in the trunk are out. Somehow the wiring harness for my amps went into the spare well, and when i put the spare back in, it ended up pulling all the wires out of everything. Spent a hour this morning re-wiring everything. I JUST WANT TO BE IN THE SUN!

^^ I've done that on an old fiat when the tensioner was seized. Took me a while longer because I was being careful with my fingers (just had to put a belt on, cut the old one off).

                              Keep it slideways!!
