    Fair Market Value?

I've located a complete s52 cylinder head (cams, lifters, etc) //////the owner says that the only issue with the head is one of the spark plug holes are stripped so he wants $800 for it before shipping. That sounds ridiculously high especially for a damaged head, Am I wrong?

I paid $1700 for mine, from a 'yard, with a 6 month warranty.

Headgasket popped, so they sent me a reman'd head, head bolts and gasket set.

                    their out there
one just sold local at a wrecking yard for 1300 wiht tranny
a friend of mine nailed it
he bought it for a spare, to build and replace, and he got to pull it out so he got tons of tidbits wiht it
he just happedn to be there when the car came in ( looking for something else)
bet that was quick money for the wrecking yard

(No ECU, harness, tranny and oil pan included in this for sale item, you will have to piece it out together as most do for the swap... this still makes it a heck of a deal for this price)

...and on the wrong side of the country. Reading ads, by the by, helps tremendously.

I've been looking the past month: as of now and not inconsistently with my previous findings, there is one engine below the $3000 mark, a 97kmi at $2500 + shipping. There is a ... thing... at 2250 that I won't touch with a 20 foot pole.
I must be very poor at searching - it's possible - but craigslist, ebay and the forums seem to concur: a complete engine will run $3000, with tranny if you're lucky but don't count on it. Now, long blocks with or without a harness or INTERESTING things will cost less but.. they're interesting. That's a bit far from $1500, but maybe I'm poor at searching, as I said. I'd love to improve though!
