Lost my only key to this hoopty!

Damn, I knew I should have made a spare when I could. I have 1 key and I can't find it for the life of me!

Can a locksmith make a new key without having the current key?

    DAMN ME!!!

          Key

Yes they can but some one could have changed it out at some point in time and BMW has no record of it. Keep searching you will fined the Key. I have misplaced mine before it took me a week to fined it. GL

ya if anyone has ever changed the door lock cylinders to a different key, the dealer vin cut key will not work.
            buts its worth a try.

Check the couch cushions. If the key is not there at least you will be happy when you find some loose change. Put that change towards the cost of a new key.

              Good luck

Simply remove the driver-side door lock. Any locksmith will be able to recreate a key with the same sequence of blades.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

if the glovebox latch is the same key use that, much easier to take off and reinstall.

look in the garbage, I was so loaded I left mine there once, and the wrapper I wanted to throw away next to where I usually keep my keys, wallet, cell. Haha.

lee was probably assuming the car is locked. if its unlocked, definitely a good idea. personally id just go get the dealer key.

I've never had a problem with a dealer key either.

I had mine cut at the dealer, took about 3 days & $50, just give them the VIN, your ID & ownership papers. That price included an OEM, lighted, key blank.

If I did it again, I would buy a key blank off eBay, take it to my local dealer & have them cut it. Being a 20-y.o. car, I wanted the cleanest, sharpest key made so I could make copies at my leisure. Works great!

i made a copy of my key at my local locksmith for around $2.00. yea its not the oem key but it works fine if i lose my original, or lock it in the car.
