Otherwise an early 70's 911 would make a nice toy, and just think down the road you could do an RSR replica.

Before I decided to buy another E30 318is I was looking into purchasing a 911. I thought I'd pick a really clean one up for about $10K... boy was I wrong. If your looking to buy a Porsche plan on having a bit of dough not only to purchase one but to fix it up as well. Classic 911's and 912's are going for a premium especially the nice ones. A clean 911 will run from $12K to $20K depending on if the person knows what they have (which most do). I spoke with a lot of Porsche guys in the local Porsche clubs that told me what to look for and how much I'd expect to spend and at this time have postponed my Porsche "dream." Note, fixing up a Porsche isn't the same as a VW Bug etc. they're much much more expensive.
