With 3 kids, even though I hate explorers with a passion, you couldnt do shit with an E30. You at least need one big car, even if it is a truck.
    Im now E30less.

What do you mean get out the military and into a job that makes more money? You do, but more comes out of your pocket also. I've seen too many people get out in the last couple of years only to come back in because the benefits were better.

With your wife, she should be going to college for cheap since she is a spouse. Se can use tuition assistance and you only pay for books.

You seem to like the car so keep it and save money while in Iraq and mod it later.

that sucks, but there are more important things in life than a mans cars. That said I would keep the e30 because it looks like a good starting point for the future

                You're such a fool.

I'm on this E30 site because I've been a part of it and it's past incarnations since the day they were started, they continue to be my greatest interest and hobby, I know more and continue to learn more about them than I ever thought was possible, and I enjoy remaining an acitve and USEFUL member of this community, even in the absence of a car, aside from the fact that my wife drives an 89 325i that I bought for myself and gave to her. Let's see you total yours, and see how fast you get another. Some of us don't have the luxury of having our cars bought FOR us. (Not that I'm saying yours was, because I don't know that, but most were.)

Now piss off and go clean your heavy, cheap, soft, riced-out, ugly as FUCK wheels, and come back when you've got something useful to say.

well Court M3 are you in the u.s. army??? forget what you think you've seen. there are many jobs out there that won't keep me away from my children for over a year. I love my family and enjoy spending time with them. I also love the army but when its time it's time. I have to say goodbye. I have a greater responsibility of rasing my chidren rather than being away from them for the better part of their lives.

ah- wasn't clear to me from his first post that the explorer was with the wife @ the other place serving transport duty.

                        fine-

but it still wouldn't sit right with me if i were the only breadwinner and wifey were the only one with a new car @ a cost of i'm guessing ~$800/mo compared to something you already own...

so if it's causing financial hardship, or even just opportunity-cost choices you'd rather not make, my advice would be "get a cheaper people-hauler".

(buying females cars is a sore subject w/ me, long story, so feel free to ignore/shred my admittedly biased opinion if you wish.)

Yeah, those are crappy replicas that go one direction on one side of the car and another direction on the other right?

                          :?:

I dont really care about who has the "better" car as long as I enjoy mine. This is being said as a guy without kids. Life changes when you have 3 little ones who become more important than having a nicer car than someone else, especially your wife. Plus, who said an Explorer is nicer?

Deadzoner, not in the army but the Navy. Feel your pain as I have been on long deployments sometimes up to 9 months.

The GI bill can be transferred to your dependents if you wish. That would save you a hell of a lot of money in the short term.

No kids yet here, but in the last 12 years have managed to buy and pay for 3 houses while in the military. The key was not living beyond my means. Sorry to sound so harsh, but seeing so many younger ranking sailors doing this pains me.
