    High Output Turbo Diesel e30

As much as I love my M20, I know there are some BMW diesel engines that would be quite interesting to drop in the e30 chasis and make fast. I have searched and cannot find. A biodiesel turbo e30?

I have actually often daydreamed about taking the lump out of an E28 524td and dropping it into my E30, and building a high-output biodiesel turbo E30.

Glad I'm not the only one.

Don't know why I remember the thread, but this made me think of: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=144564

I've dreamt about doing this too...somebody do it!

Search Al Taylor and Biodiesel e30. He ran one over 5 years ago and did pretty well with it.

^ Truth, someone needs to swap that in an E30 and come tell us how great it is afterwards.

I would LOVE an E30 with an efficient td that has gobs of torque. When I house-sit for my parents I am allowed usage of their E320CDI and I am reminded of how absolutely wicked the new generation of diesels are. The only problems I have with it are: too heavy (too many gizmos) and no manual gearbox available. An E30 would take care of both those. Set up an M51D25 with big boost & a set of Bosio nozzles & it should run quite well.

If an M57 comes my way, it may have to happen.

haha, just stick with petrol motors and stick LPG in them if you wanna be cool or buy a VW TDI.

Where would you pick up an m51 is the US?? Were those only in Europe?? I would much rather swap an turbo m51 than a standard m50! hmmmm I think I have a new idea......

EDIT: Just actually did some research on it, it was the largest diesel program in the US at launch apparently. Did not know that the m51 was a SOHC. It looks like the m57 is definitely the better swap, I wonder how hard it is to convert to OBD1?? Gonna search for a parts retailer.
