    autoparts stores

Just curious if most of the chain autoparts stores get their parts from the same supplier?
Seems like if you can't find something at one store, your out of luck.

Car Quest has been the best for E30 parts for me. No Joke.

I've also had decent luck at Vatozone.

I think that also depends on what type of part you're looking for.
Typical domestic warehouse distributors rarely carry quality EU brands, its best to buy from our more reputable online sources like BMAs and Pelicans.

I rarely go to a local parts store unless I'm buying something generic anyway. Even if they have an OEM manufactured part, it's going to cost 2-4x what you can get it for online.

This. I went to Advance and Autozone a few times when I was doing my m30 swap for radiator hoses and such, and it was never worth it as they were charging (if they even had them) like twice what I could get them online for including shipping. They would always also be 'in the warehouse' and it would be a '2-4 day wait'. You're better off with Pelican or Autohaus.

Its just kinda annoying for simple shit like fuel filters and spark plugs. I called napa and ask "do you carry bosch fuel filters?", No sir we carry napa fuel filters...ok I guess I wont be stopping by then.

look up NGK spark plugs for your motor; napa carries them, they're cheap, and better than bosch anyway.

In general the Advance near me has been pretty good about getting basic parts like filters etc.

Right across the street from them is a little Euro parts store that's been around for 25-30 years, and they have had almost everything I've ever needed for an e30 either in stock or in their warehouse down the street (same day). Great prices too.

well I just had this happen with a ngk plug so I'm not sure if I'm gonna use them again.

end of the spark plug came loose and was attached to the plug wire!!

tip of the spark plug was gone!!! In the engine?!!

                  WTF!

That looks like a very high mileage plug, I went NGK on my M44 and have had no know issues matter of fact the engine picked up about 1.5 mpg more. I just chalked that up to new plugs vs worn.

you cant go by brand at the chain places.

E.g., the "Timken" e30 front bearing hubs at Autozone are in fact FAG brand ones.

www.getbmwparts.com, BavAuto and Pelican Parts are always going to have the cheapest prices on everything OEM and shipping is fast, especially with BavAuto! Why on earth would I go to a chain store?
