19 Pound Injectors in 86 Eta ***Need Help***

Hey, I installed 19 pound in jectors in my eta today and it wont even hardly run. Was this a bad Idea? Everyone said it was plug and play. I tried to drive it out of my neighborhood and it stalled out and then wouldnt restart.

Advice? I am swapping plugs for now since mine are now all fouled out.

When i put them in my eta it ran like shit too until i realized the oil dip stick came loose (don't ask me how). So check any vacuum lines... probably not the problem if it wouldn't start at all but tryin to help. GL

Make sure all of the injectors are seated properly and that they are all actually working. How old are they? Did you replace any gaskets or o-rings for them?

You may have a massive air leak.

Who is everyone that said it was plug and play? From what I've been told, eta injectors are a much lower impedance than 325i injectors, I didn't think they would work.

ubernasty, do you still have them in your eta? How does it run?

They were rebuilt injectors. They are all seated properly because there is no fuel leaks. We replaced all the o-rings. We even disconnected a very large vacuum line just to see if it changed, and it actually ran better but still barely ran. The car is clearly running super rich. All of the plugs fouled out within 10 minutes of running, it's dumping black smoke out the tailpipe, and the catalytic converter is glowing red.

This. It's plug and play for "i" motors. Pretty sure they won't work on an "e" motor.

This is what I've always been told. 325i injectors are high impedance, eta injectors are low. I'm pretty sure your car isn't going to run on them.

What I've been told you CAN use are E28 M5 injectors, since they are the same low impedance type as stock eta injectors.

ETAs came with 18lb LOW IMPEDANCE injectors. 19lb injectors from like mustangs or even "rebuilt" ones from eBay are high impedance injectors.

Heres the problem, the injectors you bought are meant to be powered with higher voltage than the stock ETA ones. So case in point, you need to put the stock ones back in. ETAs arent race cars, they dont need to be suped up. Either get an i motor and to the swap or get a different car.

I agree with everything but this. ETAs are fun and can be suped up a bit, they have really nice torque, but 19lbs are not a good idea for an eta, Mark D won't even make a chip for 19lbs injectors. Put the old ones back in, but before you do get a rebuild kit and rebuild them! It will make them work so much better! I just rebuilt mine, was thinking about posting a guide.
West German BMWs, they just don't make the same as they did before the wall fell.
^Case in point: Auto-Repair Technology. Everytime my car isn't starting or acting up I let it sit, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for days. But it eventually fixes itself.

ETA's came with 18lb injectors? Really?

I could have sworn all M20's came with 14-15lb injectors.

You're full of crap. My eta motor is very "suped up", and it's fun as hell. I have a JimC chip with an i intake manifold and throttle body, and a ported head to match the manifold. My car hauls ass, and will hold it's own against a 325i just fine. I'm so sick of people being told that because they have an eta, they can't do anything with it.

eta cars just need a rearend swap and maybe chip/other little things to be as "fast" as stock b25 cars. its just not as fun revving to only 5k for some reason. the power stays in the 3-4k range. i parts and the 731 head fixes all problems, or porting the 200 head

I don't even care that much that my car doesn't rev that high.
