    what to do ...

so i bought a set of wheels off ebay, for $400 but the seller wont take paypal.
he has positive feedback but its all from buying, he doesnt have any from selling.
im not really comfortable just sending him a check for $465.
but the plot thickens, ebay sent me the checkout email with his adress in it, and when i emailed him about paypal he sent me another address of a buisness, i guees he must run, with a ups account that i should use to overnight him the money, but the 2 address are differnt but same city. but he also gave me an account to use for a western union swift pay, with a 3rd buisness name on it. how odd is that.

btw anyone live in lakeside califonia?

If you get a MO, I think you'd have more protection then by check.

You can get Money orders from a bank for free or from the post office for a small fee.

Lakeside, CA is near San Diego. I think Brian (not sure of his user name) lives in SD.

if he runs a business then make him take a CC. You cant run a REAL biz nowadays without CC and CC has zero consumer liability for vendor fraud.

But you trusted him, this is completely different.
Note, you don't have credit card type protection the with paypal, although you may have direct paypal protection. Paypal offers a service, even if the merchandise doesn't come your gripe is with paypal not with your card company and I understand paypal is very tough to get help from. Your card company will laugh at you, paypal transfered the money just like they promised, credit card can't go after seller, so you're still screwed.

I would also ask the dude if he will take a credit card, just maybe not paypal. Then you are completely covered.

COD is also a great option, if he balks then run.
