i got my first deer tonight!

so i was driving home from my girlfriend's house, going the speed limit, and saw a large waffleswaffleswaffles jump out in front of me. i slammed the breaks but i still knocked her down and she ran into the woods before i could get a picture of her. but i do have pictures of the hair in my head light, so where do i go from here with insurance and what not? i have USAA and comprehensive from what i can remember. also, how can i work this to my advantage? (smilies and/or euro grill)

From someone who works in the auto insurance industry, don't try and clean the deer hair off. This is the proof the adjuster needs to prove you hit an animal and should justify a "Comp" claim over a "Collision" claim. "Comp" claims supposedly don't raise your rates but I'm not an underwriter and I don't know how your carrier works.

I wouldn't bother trying to haggle the adjuster to get "euro" parts out of the deal. He/she probably won't know what you're talking about anyway. Just get the car fixed or take the money. That's your best bet.

10/4 wiht above, do not clean it up until after the adjuster sees it

I amde thta mistake when I was younger. hit a deer on a thursday,, could not get it into adjustr till monday, cleaned all the guts and crap off on saturday before
adjuster said I should not have cleaned it off, for proof
I told him , he did not live with my wife who was not about to drive the car to work with deer guts on it
adjuster paid bill, but was skeptical, thye cancelled my policy shortly after
and no....... all the speeding tickets had nothing to do wiht insurance cancelled

ok, so the quote is $1568.38 to the insurance company, and $500 to me. i still need to find out if it will be declared a total loss. if it is a loss, what are my options and where do i go from there?

if they decide to fix it, the guy am dealing with is really cool and even had an '88 coupe! the parts they are going to replace are really over priced, so they said i can source my own parts. i am trying to stay under their total estimate of parts which was $1019.56. and here is what i am looking for:

-silver grill center
-right and left euro grill sides
-right and left smilies (i am concidering depos...)
-right fog lamp (found a pair for $70 shipped)
-hood (bronzit would be best)
