I've seen people flamed for posting new threads over stuff that has already been covered and I've seen people flamed for reviving old threads, so which is better? I didn't want to revive the old thread if this has already been discussed.

Revive Old Threads or Start Anew?
West German BMWs, they just don't make the same as they did before the wall fell.
^Case in point: Auto-Repair Technology. Everytime my car isn't starting or acting up I let it sit, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for days. But it eventually fixes itself.Tags: None -

Anyone that would flame someone about reviving a good tech thread is a douchebag... However, reviving a 6 month old group buy thread... Well I'd think the shoe would be on the other foot. So it's all how you look at it[IMG]http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/

IMO its better to start a new thread. problem with bumping old threads, and i have fallen victim to it aswell, is replying to awnser the OP's question that is actually 6 years old and you didnt look at the date, then you just wasted that 5 or 10 minuted writing out an explanation or instructions for the OP that is probably not even on the same message board anymore.Comment

If you car doesn't start, bump and old thread. It shows you at least searched. If you bump an OT thread like "How do you like to wipe your ass" expect to come out of it a little on the crispy side.'89 325i track sloot

i feel it would be a good thing to answer the question if no one else had. that way in the future if someone does a search on that topic they can find the answer, have no need to start a new thread.:borg:Comment

If I find a good DIY that took forever to find that worked for me, I'll bump it up and thank those who input their advice (even if it was 2 years later) just so those who are looking for it could find it on the search easier? Perhaps not, but eh. Group buys and FS ones are fucking stupid though, I hate seeing those bumped from 4 years back.

If you can constructively contribute, bump an old thread. If not, don't post at all.
Otherwise just make a new thread.Comment
