I can't see how good support would be with the company in the UK. I think it will take lots of support...

What makes the 03.5+ more desireable than the early models?

The way I see it, add on the cost of different motor mounts, custom exhaust, and the usual $500-$1000 in unexpected pit-falls that accompany such projects, and you're looking at more like $8,000. That might be a high estimate, but still, $6.2k seems too good to be true.

Damn it, I did not need to read this.

Edit: Z31, arguably the fact that it didn't need to go through TWO recalls like the previous engines did.

Edit II: $6.5K buys you an engine and DME... I still call $10-12k when done. On a good day, IF the braking situation can be figured out.

Edit III: and you need the throttle conversion kit, that adds another 340 pounds... Looking more 12 than 10. Starting from a late model 6 cyl and doing *nothing* else.

After May (5th month) they put different rod bearings in because the ones from before May 03 were blowing at elevated RPMs.

Have you made a purchase from www.blunttech.com recently?

Ahhh thanks on the date explanation.

I think he meant 340 pounds, as in the currency pounds.

                      Haha yeah, 340GBP.

I'd assume the S54 is an aluminum alloy like the M54, right? S50B32 step aside...

No. It's cast iron. It has a superior head over the S50B32.

For the BMW purists I can see the sense in this swap.

However, if you're just after a fast, dynamic RWD German car why wouldn't you go LSx swap?

The LSx swap does make a lot of sense. The power to weight is excellent, and the engine is compact and puts out a lot of power.

There are some club racing series here stateside that you have to stick with the same engine manufacturer as the one that makes your car.

^^ that's correct. BMW CR for one. there's already a couple of s54 swapped e36s running around in the Mod classes. I suspect this will become more common now.

Forgot about those pesky bloody scrutineering/class rules, actually.

Was there any difference between the US-spec S54B32 and the Euro/world-spec S54B32?
