Never gets old. That first shot of the guy with his hands on his head sums it up for me. I can just imagine the look of complete disbelief on his face.

Sometime I wonder if they could bring something like this back with modern driver safety and more crowd control. It might loose appeal to the retards who stood in the middle of the road, but it would still be amazing to me.

Most spectacular period of motorsports history imo

Great, now I need to change my pants...

awesome video though, the fire breathing Quattro is nothing short of amaizing. Too bad the M1 at 9:05 kind of disspointed...

They would never allow cars with that kind of power back into rallying. A lot of drivers from the Group B days have said that driving those cars was terrifying, they were on the edge of control. Really watch that video, they're hardly even touching the damn ground half the time.

If you actually go to the YouTube page, there's a link in the description to download the .wmv

Audi S1/Sport quattro = Greatest Rally car of all time. Don't try to disagree with me, because you're wrong.

                      I've driven an '85 E2 Quattro and a T16 E2 205 Pug - yes, the proper Group B race cars.

I will say categorically that while the Quattro made more power and blows the Frenchie's doors off for aural appeal, the Pug was faster, better developed and didn't drive like a ludicrously nose-heavy, old, flexing pig.

I agree that the be-winged '85 SWB Quattro is probably the "iconic" GrpB car, though.

I recently scanned some photos from the 1985 Olympus Rally (pre digital camera). This was the year Audi sent one of their updated Quattros here for testing prior to debuting the car latter in the year in Europe. Hanu Mikkola drove the #1 prototype. American John Buffum was in car #2. This was the first motorsport event I ever attended and it got me hooked on cars. I was a freshman in college.
