    Am I just impatient?

I paid a seller up front for an engine two weeks ago and as of this moment the engine isn't shipped, and the guy hasn't answered an e-mail in 4 days, I am about to file a paypal dispute here pretty soon this is getting ridiculous.

What do you guys think am I just being a hothead here? I mean he has my money he could at least bother to answer my e-mails right?

How prompt was his responses before you paid. If he was pretty quick with his replies before and now after you paid him, nothing. I would be upset and worried. But if he was always slow then maybe, give him another few days, it is the beginning of the week and an engine is a little more work to ship out than most items.

i'd let him know that he has till wednesday, then if he doesn't respond, ship it, or anything of the sort, file a dispute.

He was definitely quicker before I paid him that's for sure. I'm not so much worried as upset I mean if in the next week he doesn't shift into gear I will obviously be giving him an ultimatum then taking it up with paypal. But I don't want to go this route unless I absolutely have to, keeping in mind the 45 days I have to file a dispute.

I'd be getting worried/upset. When I bought an engine off of ebay, the seller was in contact immediately and I was even getting calls from the shipping company within a day or two.

          Good luck.

Edit: finally got an e-mail back probably about the time I was writing this thread up lol. This is a summary of the most recent e-mails:

As far as I understand the declaration isn't formal or anything just a piece of paper that says I _____ declare that this engine is drained of all fluids followed by a signature and a date should do the trick. So this engine is where? sitting outside in the rain?

Just take a look at this from my perspective, you have my money and it appears you are in no hurry to finalize the sale, I myself would like to see nothing else than this engine in my garage. The actual process of prepping the engine for shipping will take what an hour? How about you be a sport and put on a raincoat and lets get this done with.

            Adrian,

Hi, please don't come a bit hostile. As I've said on my prevoius email that i will finish wraping and prepping the engine for pickup once it stops raining like cats and dogs here. You can read the email again and you can check the weather channel for the previous days if you like , pls understand that the engine doesn't sit next to me indoors where I can just easily wrap etc.

I'm not sure i'm understanding this declaration stuff, Is it something that I'd just write freely or I need a form from a freight company of your choice? I gave you my number to call me so we can communicate easier, feel free to call.

Look it's been 4 days since you replied to any of my e-mails. In case you forgot I paid you $1600 for an engine which I believe I have the right to expect to be shipped semi-promptly. You have the strapping and the plastic wrap now would you please prep this for shipping? I have advertised the shipping on uship.com the bids are only good for a few days so I need to hear back from you telling me that the engine is ready for pickup and what time the shipper can stop by.

Anyways, an update is I've called around and the shipping companies mandates that the engine must be strapped to a pallette with no fluid leaking and must be fully secured. Otherwise they will not pick it up. They obviously can't give us a shipping quote yet without picking it up.

It is a semi-hassle process. Let us work on this together to expedite the process. Can you call some freight companies also to check if they would pick it up, strap, wrap and ship it too? Right now I'm looking to find out where to buy this so called metal bands. I already have a pallette and clear industrial wrap that I purchased for shipping.

Am I violating something by posting that? I mean I think he's more lazy because he has my money than utterly fraudulant but none the less I am annoyed by it I mean boo hoo it's raining out I don't wanna go outside come on.

Even if you file a claim within the period, he can still clear his account of the money.

Dont stand for it. At a minimum the buyer and seller should have a prompt and open ongoing dialog. This is a tough economy and people may resort to selling things that they do not intend to follow through on just to make ends meet. This may not be the situation here , but why take the chance? Good luck with whatever resolution you come to. I got tagged for 85 $ for a set of motorcycle bars that the seller did not provide and wiped his paypal account of funds. Total loss!

Should have had the thing ready prior to selling it.

I was dealing with a business owner that folded and has not returned my wheels after 6 months of calling him. He says it's not his responsibility.....what an ass. I was like then who's is it? He was like I don't need you calling me anymore stop calling me or I will report you to the State Attorney General's office...idle threat since when he does I will ask the AG if he could have my stuff returned.

I'd shit bricks. You have a very limited span in which to file a dispute with paypal. Better to have it logged than not.

Nah I think you have every right to be upset. In fact, I've been having a lot of bad luck with ebay lately. With the way things are these days, it seems more and more scammers are coming out of the woodwork. Pretending to ship with BS stories trying to stall or just not responding to messages.

Well dont that shit suck. I guess thats why you never buy from new forum members. He has no feedback and that was a big ticket item.

I would be really pissed if someone had my money for a week without shipping. For $1600 loss though, I would for sure be buying some $89 plane tickets to the mans house.

File the dispute immediately so it's logged. You can cancel it once you receive the engine. Don't be too nice and let him dick you around....and for now on only communicate with him through the paypal resolution center. That should light a fire under his ass....
