    replacing fuel rail / injectors

    According to the Bentley manual, I am supposed to pry the injector harness off of the injectors. The pipe #6 here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...86&hg=11&fg=15 seems to be in the way blocking the harness from lifting. Should I remove this hose to do this? Do I really just pull as hard as possible until the injectors unplug?

    When it comes time to remove the actual fuel rail, is there going to be any pressure / gasoline that is going to spray all over the place?

    Thanks

    45psi, I believe.

    Have you made a purchase from www.blunttech.com recently?

      Unplug the ecu, or remove the relay/fuse for the fuel pump. Start car and let run till it dies. Reach down under the intake from the driver side and unplug the injector harness. Unplug the injectors. Undo the fuel lines from the fuel rail. Remove 2 10mm bolts holding the rail to the intake. Pry up on it with a pry bar or something of the sort. That should be it! Dont forget to replace all the o-rings before reinstalling!

      btw, the 325i I believe is 3.5bar which is 51psi but when you let the car run till it dies, it will remove most of the pressure.

        Oo thank you very much. As far as "unplugging the injectors", do I just lift on the harness? Also this is a 525i

          Either the injectors will pop off when you pull the rail up, or theyll come up with the rail. Regardless where they stick (intake or rail) just twist and pull and they just pop out.

              Take a pick or tiny flat head screwdriver. There is a clip on each one youll need to remove. Kind of hard to explain but you will be able to see it and get it out without much help I think. Just dont lose them!

                Instead of using a pick on each side of the clips, you can just press in the middle of the clip. This disengages where the clips meet the injectors and you can pull straight up. You don't even have to push them down to reconnect it.

                  It depends on which kind of injector plugs it has. Some arent spring loaded like that.

                    It doesn't want to start at all without the fuel pump relay / fuse.

                      So, these spring clips on the injectors to harness... Any tips on removing them? I could get the ones in the very front and back, but the middle 4 seem impossible? to release without removing the intake manifold. The other 2 I got by pulling the legs of the spring clip from behind. Can't hook the others even with a pick. ;_;

                        not that it matters, but E30 325is are 3 bar, it's the e36 that runs 3.5 bar.

                          use a screwdriver to turn them around so you can pull them off

                            I just did this yesterday, and I found it helps a ton to take the valve cover off. It gives you more room to access the harness clips, and once everything is disconnected, you can just tilt the fuel rail towards the passenger side of the car and remove the whole thing with the injectors.
