erik lukas' e30- anyone got a history on it?

there's a car at e30motorwerks right now that i would swear is erik lukas' old 5-lug m50 mtech2... even has one of the heatshield intakes he used to sell. i spotted him driving it a couple times while i lived in AZ, but that was back in '04 or so and the car in robert's shop now has FL plates.

anyone know what happened to him? is this the same car or does it just bear a very strong resemblance?

    past:
    1989 325is (learner shitbox)
    1986 325e (turbo dorito)
    1991 318ic (5-lug ITB)
    1985 323i baur
    current:
    1995 M3 (suspension, 17x9/255-40, borla)

yeah seem to remember him saying he sold it to a guy in Florida a while back. I oculd be mistaken though. But I would say its a strong possibility that is that same car.

Definitely the car. He may have been the first guy to do an MTech 2 kit swap, no joke.

Truth...I'm pretty sure he was the first Mtech II AND the first e36 based 5 lug swap. Makes me feel just as old...I hate the internet. Whatever happened to that guy? Clearly his car looks the same...

That's his car. And if you see him, tell 'em I need a bathrobe. Kidding - I've met him - he's just a little over the top online.

Here is the story of his car: http://web.archive.org/web/200308200....com/story.htm

I can't believe he ever thought those E34 kidneys looked good.

Yeah that's his old car alright. Met him a few times at bimmerfest back in the day. He has an E39 and E38 or something and posts on Bimmerforums these days. We (BEN board) never liked those E34 kidneys when he first put them on but he just had to be different. To each his own.

This might just give me an excuse to check out E30motorwerks.

With those kidneys and those wheels it has to be his. A lot of the stuff on that car pre-date R3v or even e3s.

a good way to confirm would be to climb inside and see if it has 2x4 wooden seat mounts

Amazing how far modding e30s has come in the last 10 years, especially the cosmetic mods.
