    Computer Question

So I know a decent amount of computers but this is really confusing me. The clock on the taskbar wont keep steady time. The computer is in tip top shape with no virus', spyware, adware or anything of the sort and runs beatifully otherwise, but for some reason it wont keep time. Its slow, to the point where I set it in the morning and its off by about 5 minutes to slow by the time I go to bed. Whats the deal?

BIOS usually. Check your vendor, see if there are any flash updates for your BIOS.

your battery is toast, it's usually a CR2032.. about $5 or less.

your computer must be pretty damn old for the battery to die. that's only happened to me once!

its at about 3 years now, still does what I need it to do so theres no reason to spend any money on it. Athlon XP 2100, 512 DDR, 64 mb ATI Radeon 9100, 80 Gb HDD, DVD and CDRW drives. All I do is listen to itunes (all my cds are on my comp) and surf the net mostly. I play counterstrike, but that games been around for so long my comp has no problem running it.

even if the clock doesn't keep time well, there's apps you can get that will continually sync your computer with a time server to update your time to the current NTP time. I think winXP has this feature built in... but i don't think you can control it much.

I'd go with the abovementioned BIOS battery replacement. That seems to be the problem in most cases.
