Non BMW swaps

The R31 never got the RB30ET - it was only in the Holden VL Commodore (and Calais) - and they're starting to be worth a fair bit of coin these days.

Another good swap might be the Toyota/Lexus 1UZ-FE 4.0L quad cam V8. Plenty of people have done that swap and they're tough motors. Space is a bit tight 'cause of the x2 DOHC heads but people fit 'em in and there are mounting kits out there too (www.rodshop.com.au has a pretty comprehensive one). There is a guy from NZ on here with a 1UZ E30 - sounds tough and goes really well. Just needs big cams and a supercharger for more fun!

There are heaps of SR20 BMWs in the world - quite a few out here, in NZ, Thailand, South America, UK, Japan... While they're nuggety truck motors they're also common, cheap to buy, have huge aftermarket support

Mostly, however it isn't hard to do the headers around the steering column (just expensive if you can't do it yourself).

Why would it be a joke? Not all of us know anything and everything about every engine ever made. It was a simple question.

Just because every ricer on Earth is in the business of sticking an SR20 into any RWD car he can get his hands on. There was a time not too long ago when practically every high school student in North America was buying a rusty 240SX and the front clip of a wrecked JDM Silvia to build their backyard drift-mobile.

Ah. I was unaware of this SR20 phenomenon. But with an SR20, the exhaust would be coming out the driverside and to have a turbo, it would be a bitch working around the steering column, yes?
