Yeah, no experience, you won't be getting into a dealership. I have 10 years in the field, and I'm still trying to get a dealership up here to let me in...

And I have been at 3 large scale Highline dealers in my job history.

First job I got in TX was at a local shop that does club race cars. Got $6.50/hr, and I had to be very persistent to get them to hire me to clean the shop and help out the mechanics. I basically showed up, the owner said he didn't really need me, so I hung out and swept the place up for 2 hours and hung around until they closed. He figured "What the hell" and gave me a shot.

Lots of teams, like Star Mazda, etc, want pit bitches (not the Spandex and umbrella type) and I have friends get gigs like that, basically no pay, but they cover your room/board and you get this neat polo to help out for a bigger race weekend. Found out about this through SAE.

Whore yourself enough, and someone with give you a bone.

^Good advice. What exactly do you want to do? Fabrication or mechanic? If you aren't that experienced in either then you'll obviously have to settle for less to get your foot in the door.

Wait till the next big race comes in to the local track and shoot a few emails out to lend a hand for free. You're going to have to make some sacrafices to get where you want to be.
