*shrug* I get props for my 4 door auto all the time.. :?

maybe you guys should try cleaning your cars sometimes ;)

it probably helps that 99% of the cars around here are hondas or trucks..

I'm not so sure that age has much to do with it. Just this past week I had 2 people tell me how much they like my 323. Once in the Hardees parkinglot and once at a stop light.

It might have a lot to do with the european license plate. I dunno.. people are weird.

I have never gotten any appreciation of my car, except for a few of my freinds.
I could care less, but I guess it might stem from the fact that every single person where I live drives brand new cars.

If my car got looks id worry about the person. I mean she's an E30 but not exactly a prime example of one yet.... 8)

But Portland is funny, where i live, I see the same 15 E30s running around, so every one here is like oh another old BMW, Meh i bought one new like 16 years ago... who cares now.

I'm sure the age of the car does have something to do with it as it is now 3 (almost 4) generations old.

However, I know I personally like cars young and old. E30 M3's as well as well done E30's (I'd put mine in here) still catch my eye as do older Mercedes, Porsches, etc.

E30's are at that stage where they are closer to becoming classic Bimmers rather then $5999 used cars. Depreciation has had it's was with them and I don't see them going much lower. E21's still fetch $300 for a piece of shit to $4k for a nice example. I think some of the guys buying $3-4k 325is' may be able to drive them for a year or two and recoup their investment minus repairs. My .02

Is the E30 so old now that even well done models like mine do not warrent attention?

Or is the drop off in compliments because I now live in the shithole of Arizona (Tempe) where I used to live a stone's throw away from the exclusive PV/Scottsdale?

I would get people (mostly older men) asking about my eta at the gas staition from time to time.
I was drying it outside a gas staition the day I sold it and some 40 y/o guy was telling me about his 1989 cabrio that he sold a few years back.

This is true...I broke even on my car after driving it for 4 years. When I say broke even I mean including repairs and mods EVERYTHING! [ It's all thanks to my detailing skills :-) I call it the $3000 detail job because the buyer about $3000 more than the car was worth. 8) I saw my old car the other day with a for sale sign in the window... he'd be lucky to $3500 for it now. ]
