e30 Stolen FML

So I found out from one of my housemates today that my car is no longer in front of the house, as it has been for the 2 weeks I've been out of town for the holidays. Since I parked it on the street I figured it might have been towed. Called the City, they didn't have it. Called the County, they didn't have it. I was referred to the Towing Company's Dispatcher since they would be the most up to date, no record of the car whatsoever. The best part about all this? I had put all of my tools in the trunk of the car before I left. Not to mention the Ellips and HIDs, my stereo, weaves, etc that I spent all my extra money on the last few months are now gone. Good to know I at least have theft insurance for the car, too bad I probably won't get anything for all the tools inside it.

DAMN! That's sorry to hear bro, any uniqueness about your car that will make it stand out around your area? I would post up lots of pics in your regional forum and other car forums. They might pay you for the tools depending on your insurance company, my roommate had his autocross racing slicks stolen off our back porch and his car insurance gave him $1400 bucks for them, then threatened to drop him for racing his car of course.

Do you have homeowners or renters insurance? It might be helpful for getting some coverage on the items that were inside the vehicle provided the items exceed your deductible and/or any effect on your premiums.

What amazes me the most is that the car was under a dirty blue car cover (I know, I know) and I love my e30 but it was the epitome of beater. I literally don't know who on earth would be desperate enough to steal a car with so many problems, shit the thing had 330k on it, the engine was literally on it's last leg and the suspension is totally shot. I was planning on buying a new one this month, I'm mostly pissed my tools are gone.

I would definitely say it has some "uniqueness": Delphin hood, sunroof and is lip spoiler. dents in all doors except the rear driver, untucked rear bumper and black front plastic, bracket for early IS front Spoiler (ripped the spoiler off a few months ago). Yeah no way someone could miss it.

Ditto. After a drunk driver (being chased by the cops!) flooring it up the street and plowing through a Camry parked in the street and then slamming into a tree in the owner's yard and someone randomly throwing a big ass rock through my windshield, I no longer park in the street.

Fuck that noise.

Hope you get it back or at least get compensation for all the money you put into it, including the tools. Though, since I've had my car broken into, I can tell you that insurance companies say anything that isn't "bolted down" isn't covered (i.e., if you cut the top off your car and flipped it upside down, anything that fell out is considered gone).

that's actually the first time in 5+ years of trolling e30 forums that I've heard of one getting stolen, much less a beater.

shit, I never lock mine or anything because it's such a mega-beater. Thieving douchebags would be better off roughing up bums for milk money.

good luck getting that nightmare sorted out, but at least you have a "new" e30 somewhere in your future!
