VR heads are cake, make sure you replace the coolant "crack pipe" and the timing chain guides while you are at it. Chances are the head is warped, PM me if you need one. Sounds like a decent deal if you are a hoarder like myself!

Awesome, I will let you know if i am in need of a new head. The more I think about how he kept driving it, the more convinced I am the head is either cracked or warped. I am a bit of a hoarder, but mostly with e30's. I guess its never to late to start with VW's...

Sorry Pics were so delayed. My brother came into town from Arizona, so I've been busy. Anyways, onto the pics!

Needs a good cleaning, but overall, I'm happy with the free car.

Keep the stock springs on there & get a set of Koni yellows. (rears set full-soft) They are a fantastic handling car with that setup & good rubber.

I realize how rare these things are, my uncle (owner) does to, which is why he got so pissed at my cousin-in-law (guy my uncle gave his car to).

Progress update: I have the head pulled, it actually doesn't look warped at all, took a straight edge to it with a feeler gauge and couldn't poke it in anywhere... Block looks to be fine too. Strange, any ideas what could have happened? I'm taking the head to get refreshed in a chemical bath to get all of the coagulated oil/coolant off, flushing all systems several times to ensure cleanliness. College is hitting me hard, so the progress is slow, but hopefully a couple weekends from now it will be drivable. I'll keep everyone updated with any major progress.
