    2002 ???

ok since im in Germany and can probably get away with buying an older car and not having to convert it to take her back to the states.... i was thinking of getting a 2002. now here is a quick question. how much roughly would it cost to drop an s14 into a 2002, motor tranny and all including.???? if you dont have something nice to say then please dont reply at all.

      $5k for motor/tranny
      $3k in labor/parts/custom fabrication

Thats my bet. It aint as simple as people make it sound

And importing an 'old' car with a motor swap will be just as hard as a 'newer' car.

Keep the stock engine until you get back to the US. Even though the car is older it still has to be stock. Check with JK Technologies in Maryland I think. They can give you more guidance.

It's gonna be at least 6k (probably more) when all is said and done. Be sure to check out www.bmw2002faq.com

are euro 2002's much different from US ones? if I were you I'd get something that's impossible to get here; E30 touring, Evo M3, authentic tuner cars (hartge, ACS, Alpina, etc). not something you could easily replicate in the states.. doesn't have to be an E30 either, or even a BMW.

What Nando said Yan. You couldnt afford and Evo (or find an easy seller) but I would think a nice Touring would be easy to track down. Bring it back and then sell it to me cheap so I can put the drivetrain in it and you can have my car.
              Im now E30less.

Don't think the touring or the M3 will work for him since it has to be at least 25 years old to not have problems with federalization.

Here's an example of a nice '02 with an s14
