ignorance, yes tq helps, but deff not needed. lol. Have you ever heard of an AE86 and a little motor called the 4age? or a rotary? pretty sure those are popular too. Or how about a sr20det motor? CA18det? All 4 cylinders or no cylinders.

If some one can drift a 240 with a single cam ka24 that makes less then 100 hp, I think a s2000 will be fine. lol

just pointing out that you don't half to have tq to drift, and the s2k is perfectly capable of holding it's own. the only reason you don't see too many of them out there is 1. cost and 2. the driving position. The same reason people don't like to drift 240/260/280z's. sitting too far back and your getting thrown around with the car.

oh and if you for those who hate on tq less motors and honda, what about the sr20ve, 4age (20v blacktop, by far my favorite 4 banger ever). Both very popular motors yet no one hating on them. Most of you need to open your eyes. Hate to say it but lots of you are more biased then the ls1 guys. lol
Your knowledge is amazing. You know you shouldnt give such valueable information away for free.

But you should read peoples posts more carefully. Key word: IDEAL. Take a step back to the OP's post. We're talking about an NA s2k. I post because I have experience in the matter. Until you have driven one, you have no voice in this conversation. Put the shovel down.

No, never. I live under a fucking rock. I was driving/wrenching rotary cars when you were still sucking tequila out of your moms titties, cupcake.

i dont see how a sohc ka only makes 100hp? stock ka24e's make 145hp and 155 tq to the crank, dual cam's make 155hp and 160tq to the crank.

You clearly have little to know what you're talking about.

The S14 is a piss slow motor. A 325iS with a 4.10 rear end will outperform an M3. I'm pretty sure my membership to s14.net is being terminated soon after I post this, but it's true, and I've even seen M3 owners admit it. And yes, I've driven a bone stock E30 M3. Phenomenal car.... to have for weekend getaways to autocrosses and track events.

So for track racing, then it's a different story. When you're in the high-rpms, its a great track car. No doubt about it the E30 M3 is one of the best cars designed in it's age for overall performance.

That being said... for street use, the car is hardly as admirable. And I say that because you're not going to be driving the car balls out like you should to tap into it's potential.

Simple fact. Let's race your S2000, 318iS or E30 M3, against a competitor (Genesis Coupe 2.0T / Nissan's SR20 to S2000... 325iS to M3). The only rule is that you cannot use the upper 1/4 of your rev range. So if your redline is 8000, you can only rev to 6k. Who wins?

My only point is that these cars are hardly proper to daily drive. Beyond all the drifting and just looking at a car that you want to use everyday, they are pretty pointless. Therefore, for daily driving, yes the S2000 sucks. Take it on a race track, you have my full respect.

Sure it's plenty fun in the track... the few times you'll have the chance to get it out there still doesn't really make up for the fact that the car is pretty terrible everywhere else.

It's like a Formula 1 in the sense that unless you're already up in the high revs and driving it to it's full potential, the car will be completely useless.

Whether you see that as a compliment or not, that's up to you :p
Using that statement then the E30 M3 is in the same book because it lacks low end torque or you have to row the shifter?

Yeah, they don't seem to be holding their value too well. They're still great cars though. And I imagine their value will increase over time as they become rarer.

WOW you are retarded. I stopped reading when you said the s14 is a piss slow motor. You have no credibility. Just rent a gun buy one bullet and well you know the rest. Damn you have no idea.

Just went back and acutally read that statement. What kind of rules is that (1/4 rev range)? Well of course a fucking turbo is gonna stomp a car that revs high at low rpms. Just do as i said above and we will live in a better world. FUCK you are dumb.
