    m20 Dual exhaust?

Okay, a few questions about it. Has anyone ever heard a m20 with dual exhaust. I am debating on straight piping off the headers with the use of 2 resonaotrs. How obnoxiously loud will that be? In my opinion with a FI motor it will be helpful power wise. Lastly, the battery box, it dips down and would serve as an "issue" of running the other exhaust pipe. Any links pertaining to this project would be most helpful. Thanks.

Why not just leave it alone and just mod other things on your car? I'm sure it has been done, but there are other mods which will be more effective and practical..

if you want to be real trick, have the straight pipe set up installed so its either bolt on, or use V band clamps, and then you can swap it out whenever you to be quiet (put on stock exhaust)

Thats what I plan on doing

Alright, performance wise it will help, correct? I plan on just doing a weld on straight pipe from the headers w/ 2 resonators. Not too loud? Diecent gains with forced induction? RobS Why the hell would I spend 500-800 to get an exhaust that gives you practically no gain with a bitchy whine to it when I can get a deep growl for about 400? + that it is a WHOLE NEW ENGINE not just an add on. That is a cool plan you have Rob, what do you think about it all man? You seem to know what's up.

It's a forced induction motor man, I cant get some cheap ass slightly better than stock exhaust setup. Not knocking anyone's products but I need some serious breathing. Yeah, I auto-x now and I will run in 1/4 with this engine.

just because it may not be a race car doesnt mean we have to spend too much on parts. See the "skiplate" thread

Just resonators will probably be very loud. But since its a I-6, it'll never sound like a honda with a fart pipe. A local friend of mine has a single exhaust, no cat, no resonators, single universaly muffler on his built 2.8. At idle, it sounds like a V8, very nice and rumbly. When he gets on it, it gets loud, but it sounds terrific. For a daily driver, its borderline too much, depending on your tolerance.

It would be pretty cool. I would do something like dual 3inch pipes from headers with the resonators. That shouldn't cost more than 400ish.

I plan on going with straight pipes, seperated into probably 3 sections. 1 part from the header to the cat, then another from the cat to the muffler, then from the muffler to the end.

I want to have a bolt in cat for the center section, and a bolt in muffler for the last section. I will run straight pipes (no cat, no muffler, no resonator, no tip, nothing.) and if I can't handle it (I probably won't) then I am able to add a cat or muffler (or both) to my liking.

dual 3 inch is way too large. Built 5.0 mustangs use dual 3"ers

Just for reference, stu mc uses a single2.5" exhaust on his 3.0, and Alex uses a single 3" pipe on his 3.2

If I decide to go with mufflers was thing the quad exhaust look, would that box the battery sits in be an issue? and if it is what could I do to eliminate it?

I plan on going dual 2" pipes, maybe a bit smaller.

..talk to Gunni.. he had the dual exhaust setup when his S38 motor was in his old cabrio, granted he had no battery tray, he can stiff offer some advice.

Another guy with a red e30 who had an s50 swap or so also had duals...I don't see his car around on the net no more, I wonder what happened to him.

I think the e30 is too "narrow" to look 100% clean with dual pipes...why don't one of you guys get creative and have exit pipes before the rear wheels  .... like the touring cars
