    unknown problem

so my car is a 84 318i swapped to a 86 eta and is having, what i believe. fuel problems. It has a brand new in tank pump a replaced and working in line pump and the car just randomly loses idle and dies and doesn't want to get fuel. I am checking the fuel filter later today and if thats good gonna run down the fuel lines make sure they are clear. any other ideas?

Check your ICV as that was what was bad on my '84 "e".

it does a little more than loses idle, giving it any throttle will make it die. all of this seems to happen at random after the car warms up

Check your spark plugs to see if they are fuel soaked.

its looking like the AFM is shot. we pulled my buddys and tested it and it read 3.64 to start. mine started at 2.15 and barely broke three so i am swapping it and lets hope that solves the problem

unless he's done an M50 swap, there is no MAF.
