    Exhaust note samples?

I've currently got an '86 turbo Nissan 300ZX. A very fun car, mind you. But not so much fun if anything resembling a turn comes up. Am looking at getting a car that's hopefully as quick (the Z's turning 220hp, 180ft/lbs, and weighs 2900lbs), and that will eat corners alive, for less than $7,000. An E36 328i looks to be the ticket.

Unfortunately, I'm a bit of an exhaust note enthusiast. Anyone have or can make and share a recording of a stock E36 exhaust note, both at idle and when the throttle's opened up?

One of the biggest things I miss about going turbo is the screaming "bwap" from wide-open-throttle, as the turbine smooths it all out into one continuous note, essentially.

    Much appreciated!

    Also

Forgot to ask, and should have. What are the most common problems I can expect to see, and how costly is maintenance on an e36? So far, the Z's cost me probably about $1,500 in one year, in parts/repairs/maintenance alone.

You are aware that this is an e30 forum?

On www.aatuning.com you can find samples of their E36 exhaust notes but that is only with their exhaust. Still, it's a sample.

"exhuast not enthusiast"??????.... that's pretty ghey... regardless, the stock e36 exhaustnote is far from awe-inspiring... my e36 m3 has a good note, but too muffled... an aftermarket e36 system like AA sounds good on e36's.. but i'm a Borla fan.. i have it on my e30 m3, and soon to have it on my e36.. good throaty tone, with motory wine on the top end... i'd check that out if you have chance.... but please realize... it's not always the motor or the marque that dictates the exhaust note.....

Where do you plan on finding 328i's for $7,000?
