Out of the three M3's the US spec car is least desirable do to all of our sound deadning materials. We have way to much junk in our cars. What's old is the 320iS of Portugal and Spain fame has the same hp and tq rating as our 2.3l M3.Originally posted by M3 Ryanthe suspension geometry is "perfect" and it is the lightest of the 3 M3's, which makes cars handle much better.
they FEEl best, while they might not handle best... a properly setup e30 M3 could give an E46 M3 a run for its money.
I'm not saying that I wouldn't want this car just I wouldn't pay 45k for it 15k to 21k maybe. Bad part about cars is you never get the money back out of them. He payed how much when it was new to only deprive himself of driving such a cool car. And white? He could have choosen a cooler color.
Bosset has enough dough thou to so in my opinion a was of a car. His M2002 was so much cooler.Comment

Speaking of economics, you have to realize the opportunity cost of tying that money up 14 years ago. Even improperly invested $33k of 1990 dollars would be a heck of a pile today, a lot more than $45. Also, why did he do all that work to turn around and dump it, could have saved the trouble and had an easier time selling it I bet.Originally posted by M-technik-3Out of the three M3's the US spec car is least desirable do to all of our sound deadning materials. Ok... everyone that answered is right, but you guys still didnt' tell me why. I mean of course BMW tried to design an awsome car, but you still didn't tell me why it "feels" better then the rest. So here is the answer quoted from BMW Magazine issue 2/2003:Originally posted by bimma360OHH here is a pop quiz for all you "odd ducks." Gimme the reason why E30 M3's handle better then the rest. And i'm not talkin about the components factor. The question is why did they design it that way?
"First sold in the U.S. from 1987 - 1991, the M3 was a thinly veiled racecar for the street. European touring car competition regulations at the time required that a manufacturer build, and offer for sale to the public, stree-legal examples of the car it wanted to race.......... It was powered by a 2.3 - Liter , twin - cam, four cylinder engine....... "
That last tid bit was just for those of you that wondered what engines they ran in there competition cars. Hmmm sounds liek the same one as the one that is currently in there... right?E30 Dinan Turbo

This is why it feels better, and why any BMW lover has to drive or own an e30 M3 at some point:Originally posted by bimma360Ok... everyone that answered is right, but you guys still didnt' tell me why. The e30 M3 was the only BMW EVER to be designed specifically for the track. But due to racing regulations, they were forced to make road-going versions to be compliant. So they said "okay, throw in a radio, A/C, sound deadening, some basic interior amenities, and call it 'road-going' ". And so the e30 M3 was born.
Every other BMW, or M car for that matter was designed for the street, and the M cars just-so-happened to be pretty close to race ready.
It's kinda like the American Eagle at Six Flags Great America. It's old, it's wooden, bumpy and technologically crippled, but everyone still rides it because of the heritage. Even though it's not the tallest or fastest, or the fact that it has no loops or super-steep drops, people still flock to it.
I've driven them, and i'll one day own one too. Even if it costs me 45K. That car makes me feel like a million bucks, and that is all that matters...Nick

the expierence of driving an E30 M3 is very unique and quite satisfying. I find myself smiling just driving down the road, hearing my valves click away as I floor it to 7800 rpm...
