    modifying the steering knuckle

Well, the knuckle is out and the rivets are mostly ground through..

And now im trying to seperate it.. ill grind away at the rivets some more before i ask how much those need..

but since the pics are down for the e36 rack swap thread, i need someone to show or explain to me where i need to grind at the u-joint to make more turning clearance, is it both ujoints? or just one?

    any help would be appreciated..

once you grind down the rivets enough, the knuckle should separate with a little effort.

I waited until I got the steering rack and knuckle back in the car and everything hooked up, then I spun the steering wheel back and forth and found where I had clearance problems and ground down just enough to clear.
