Placebo effects have no purpose, and cant be accepted. No "I felt a definite improvement".

Grounding kits were never developed with performance (by performance I mean HP, TQ numbers). It is not realistic. Any increase would be minimal, much like an aftermarket exhaust system or having a K&N Filter.
What grouding kits are intended for, afaik, is obviously, to supply better groudning for the system. Better groudning can yield better workings of the electronics components. The overall feel of the car may be enhanced (especially with automatic cars), but I would never expect the mod as a boost in performance mod.
Again, not helpful as I'm talking about different car, but at least with the IS300, the power increase were 1-2HP at best on the dyno.
I have also heard that good grounding system will eliminate alternator whine in some cases.~ Go Canucks Go! ~

Wow you guys can be hard on each other! I thought you were all supposed to be buddies united in the passion of the E30 or something like that. Anyway since the person you keep giving a hard time to happens to be my little brother I will take some time out of my extremely (no exaggeration) busy schedule to answer some questions.
First of all a proper grounding system will absolutely yeild power and performance gains. Everytime. The 1-2 hp on those IS300 kits is too low. Not a good product. Yeah I followed the link to that forum. Wait and see what those guys think about there vinly wire in 6months to a year. It will be worthless. We have Tuner Transformation TV in Toronto conducting testing on an IS300 system I developed right now. The results will be known to everyone because we are developing a unique system for them that they are going to be marketing very aggressively because they know the potential of these systems.
I have a white paper (official engineering document) published by six korean scientists at last years SAE World Congress meeting. It goes into very great detail about the ineffeciency of the automotive grounding system. I would be happy to forward a copy of it, which I paid money for, to anyone.
Now, an electrical system works in a cycle. Current flows out of the positive leads on the battery and Alt.. It goes into all the electrical components of the car and engine. It then goes back out through the grounds and back to the zero resistance points. The negative lead on the battery and Alt. Now think of a water wheel. You can only put as much water in as it dumps out the cycle before. Same with an electrical system. You can only flow as much in as you can carry out. This is where the inefficiency of the ground system reeks havoc. Because it cannot support the full current demands of the engine components especially during a spike in demand (as small as a thousandth of a volt ) the engine does not operate at its full potential. By dramatically reducing the resistance and increasing the capacity of the grounding system you are allowing every component of the engine to work properly. Actually better than it did when it left the factory. You can do this by connnecting very specific points on the chassis and the engine in a chain back to the negative lead on the battery. It is best to leave the Alt. alone for various reasons.
As for benefits, fuel injectors work more efficiently, spark plugs burn hotter and cleaner, air/fuel mixture is burnt more completely during the combustion process, sensors work properly on the input and output side, computers get the proper info, computers send the proper info, auto transmissions shift cleaner and more consistently and I can keep going trust me.
You will get at least 10% better gas mileage almost everytime. I have not seen anyone get less but I'm sure for some reason or another it will eventually happen. You will get more hp and torque. How much? Who knows but more than 1-2 or I will be very embarrased. Your car will run smoother, cleaner and produce less emmissions (CA guys if any).
We are currently in the process of an extensive testing program with Forsyth Tech. and Wake Forest Univ. both located in Winston-Salem, NC. We will have some results back this coming wednsday and I would be happy to share those with you.
I will be in Raleigh on Thursday this week for a friends bachelor party and I would love to look at your cabriolet if possible. Let me know.

I would also love to see evidence showing significant gains in HP and TQ. I have looked into the system a lot, and I have seen nothing to support such gains. Let's say, it makes a 4crank-hp difference (oopty doo, that's double what I claimed initially), but that's still nothing.
But Danny, you seem to have done lots of research on this, that's awesome for us E30 guys, as asfaik, no-one really makes an E30 specific groudning wires.
As for the material of the grounding wires for the IS300 that examplified, tell me, how is it not a good product?
It uses high quality wiring and gold terminals, what makes yours so much superior? Perhaps you have a better protective cover and that's all the better, however, protective cover would not add to a wires' performance benefit?
Also, asfaik, the kits that I showed as an example, are of long-lasting quality. I myself owned the kit for well over 6 months with no problems.
I can't say if that the material will not become frail overtime, but at least from real-world evidence, 1-3 years of use does not seem to be an issue.
I'm not doubting that better grounding system will be beneficial to the car. I admire them like religion, but what I would like to know is, what makes your kit so superior, and what allows for such an increase in power, using yours?
So far, you have said that the IS300.net looks like crap, and have added nothing regarding the quality of your kit that makes it superior than other 'proven' kits.
Can't wait to here more information. I'm sure that the majority of the members are in total scepticism. And I was too, at my point, so that's not a huge suprise.
It's like advertising Miracle Blade on those infomercials, it just sounds too good to be true, and when it sounds too good to be true, it ususally is. So prove us all wrong.~ Go Canucks Go! ~

about seeing my car an thurs. it might be doable but i dont know yet. i have a couple parts off being painted so my car is basically unmoveable at the moment.

I just installed an Active Tuning ground kit for my SE-R, which is notorious for having poor grounding. My gas mileage dropped suddenly from 29 to 23 mpg and after a full service and inspection there was no improvement, so I'm trying it based on advice from the SR20 guys. I have my doubts, but we'll see.

Look, most of the gains you are seeing are due to poor grounding from the factory.
BMW's have multiple grounding systems throughout the car.
Attention to everyone:
Before you buy this, go and clean your grounding contacts. This will do the same thing. You have way more grounding spots than just the engine block, so clean those as well.
Also, welcome to hopefully the turning point of r3v, where people wont just accept information without some sort of data to back it up.
You can talk till you are blue in the face, but I am not believing you until you give me some solid, undisputable tech.
To convince me, explain to me how the car carries enough current throughout to require the enormous wiring that is offered with your kits.
Here is an example of what you need to prove:
The grounding strap from the motor is gauge 3/0. This means it can carry 328 amps for chassis wiring, and 293 for power transmission.
Let's just say that the car needs to unload 600 amps. This is crazy, but let's do it for numbers sake.
If a 3/0 gauge wire is 1 foot long (as is the engine strap), it will have a .1 voltage loss. We can go almost up to 350 amps before having any voltage drop through this 3/0 gauge wire.
Now, lets move on to the wiring harness/ecu.
If you go measure the wires grounding out to the shock tower, we get two small wires. A 2/0 and a 3 gauge wire.
The 2/0 wire can support up to ~250 amps without any voltage loss.
The 3 gauge wire can support up to ~105 amps.
See where this is headed?
This is only a sample of the two wires that I could see easily in the engine bay. If you want to walk throughout the whole car, and examine the grounding points, and measure voltage loss, lets do it. I am willing to take you up on this challenge. However, I get to clean my grounding points before I test the current loss. This is fair, as the point is that the wire is sufficient in stock form.

I am amazed to find a group of "car people" that are this ignorant and closed minded, not to mention immature. I have too little time to waste it on a group like this. We just did a group buy for an F150 Harley-Davidson truck club buy and it went very well and every customer is very happy and they have seen as much as 15hp on the dino and have dropped 6 tenths of a second in the quarter mile. Believe it or not kids!
I am not going to bother with this anymore and there will not be any group buy. For those of you who are a little more educated and serious I will still offer something for you. You can contact me directly.
