    CFC cyl head?

so i am at the wreckers and there are several CFC 325i with 885 heads . if i was going to rebuild it anyways, is the head worth getting or will it be totally fucked from the silica sand they use to seize them?

They pour it in the oil pan, seizing the crank, but, also filling the oil pump, oil galleys, etc. I'd bet they are trash.

I didn't think any yard was to sell anything from under the hoods of the C4C cars?

she said that the would give me a 90 day warrenty and if i take it apart and it is crap, they will refund me. i think i will give it a shot. i am going to cut the timing belt first and see if the cam turns first though.

Not worth it, same amount of effort you can pull a non CFC engine...so why even bother?

If it were just the head, I would do it.

I mean, assuming the cam journals weren't shit

              yea, just the head.
i have enough motors to take care of what i need.
i still have to port and polish the head, have it welded for boost, THEN have it rebuilt. if it is not totally screwed (f'ed up cam bearings) then this would be perfect. there is no sense in me spending $200-$300 for a head to take it apart and do all that to it.

same here, if the journals are shit, then the head is shit as well. I wouldnt think it that hard to score the journals enough to make them useless, unless you have it in mind to sleeve the bearing surface somehow.

what yard by the way, I need interior stuff (glovebox for one)
