College Students... Quick Poll

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being loudest:

How loud is your dormitory(granted you live in one) on any given night past 11pm?
Do people get angry when others are excessively loud?

I need to find out if people on my hall are complainers or whether people are courteous at other schools.

When I lived in the dorms they weren't that loud past 11.... of course I lived in a pretty small one at Gonzaga U. The larger freshman dorms were pretty loud until like 12-1.

One time we were blasting 'Cypress Hill - Hits from the Bong' at like 1:30 while actually.... well, you know. But anyhow, the fuckin RD came up to tell us to turn the music down... it was hella scary LOL.

The people on the floor above me bang on the floor when my music is too loud past 11 or so. These rooms aren't that well sound deadened so you can hear a lot of what's going on. Other than that people are cool about it. When I say my music is loud, it's loud and shaking the windows and furniture in my room.

This is on an on-campus apartment.

On party nights, me and my friends are very very loud, all the way up to 3ish, but we stay in one room for the most part so noone really complains. On any other given night, a few other kids across the hall from me, have friends over and hang out in the hallway with the doors open. Music blasting, bouncin a basketball, just plain obnoxious. It pisses me off because at least we are considerate when we party. So id give it a 7 i think.

my hall is always loud I leave my door open and play my music...And thats coming from a 15 inch subwoofer with 250 watts going to it since I hooked my bass amp up to my computer.

it really depends i think if you live on a big hall full of people or in individual suites. last year i lived in a hall with about 100 guys, and it was loud till about 2 every night, sometimes later. now that we are in a suite, its rarely every loud, unless the loudness is coming from us. but if someone comes and tells us to quiet down we respect them

damn living on campus sucked.
my freshman year, (only year I dormed) I lived in a suite so there wasn't really anyone around to make noise

but yeah, people were pretty damn loud in the regular part of the dorms. the only time "quiet hours" were actually enforced was during exam week. Usually loud till midnight on weekdays, 2 on weekends. sometimes people asked us to be quiet (we usually had a lot of parties in our suite) but we tended not to quiet down if people asked. lol

we are pretty loud in my room most of the time. id say about half the people listen to loud music late and half the people dont. a guy that lives on one side of me never says a thing about the volume but "nasty nate" this little kid who lives on the other side complains at 12:00am on a friday night.

i live in one of the biggest dorms in the south east "hess hall" at UTK.

id say during the afternoon sometimes it can get up in the 8-10 range. but usually at night its down in the 6 range.

its never too loud where u cant get shit done if u have to.

what i did with my subs (2 12" marantz) i found an orientation where they annoyed people the least but still sounded goodl... you still could hear it on the sidewalk.. 5 floors down .. hehehe.. i kinda miss the dorm days

Never did the dorm thing but my bro seemed to make it appear that the only "quiet time" was on the long weekends when most people went home. The rest of the time he generally felt sorry for the janitors.

1st semester at Moore Hall (all freshman dorm) definately gets a 10. You could not go to sleep anywhere before 3am on any given weeknight. It was rediculous and thats why I have an off campus apartment now. Off campus apartment= 1

Years ago when I lived in the dorm it was about a 5. It was generally mellow and everyone knew the rules, but there were parties once in awhile.

I live alone now. Thank god.

when i was in the dorms my hall was fuckin loud... we were known as the most obnoxious hall in a 7 story/two wing dorm. RA's and cops would bust people almost nightly, and on most nights you could hear everything from loud music, drinking, sex, people smoking weed in the hallway and in the study cubes... it was pretty tight... it'd say it was an 8-9... that's why i learned to sleep with earplugs ;) .... there were a few people who complained, especially my neighbor who was a total bitch, but short of that there was rarely much a problem. I remember one night my bitchy neighbor bought a kitten and was going to take it home the next day so it spent a night in her room. at like 11:45 she sends her toolistic-waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles whipped boyfriend over and he knocks on my door, i open it and he goes, "can you turn your music down please and ask people to be quieter?? you're scarring her kitten ." he said this straight faced, and he was dead serious... i was like,"are you fucking serious???" physically/methaphorically :finger: and we went about our business... funny he never complained again... as a side note, University of Oregon, where i go to school, is ranked #1 for dorms like dungeons...
